NY SAFE ACT!"NY gun law results in 1,146 felony charges"

ALBANY — Nearly a year after passage of the state's new gun law, dealer
sales of popular AR-15 semi-automatic rifles have ended in New York and arrest
data show more than 1,000 gun possession charges in New York City were boosted
from misdemeanors to felonies because of the changes.
Meanwhile, 59 people have been charged statewide with misdemeanors for
possessing large-capacity magazines or having more than seven bullets loaded
in a magazine, both outlawed by the law passed last January in the aftermath
of the school massacre in Newtown, Conn.
A report from the Division of Criminal Justice Services shows only one person charged
with the illegal sale or transfer of a gun defined as an assault weapon as of mid-December.
The new law tightened that definition to include AR-15s. Owners may keep their older
weapons but must register them by April 15.
"The numbers are indisputable. The SAFE Act has enabled the state to better protect
New Yorkers," said Melissa DeRosa, spokeswoman for Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He pushed
the legislation shortly after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School that left
20 first-graders and six educators dead. Police said the 20-year-old gunman used
a semi-automatic rifle and 30-round magazines.
The DCJS data from arrests and arraignments statewide showed:
~ 1,291 charges under the new gun law,
~ with 1,155 for felony firearm possession, formerly just a misdemeanor.
Separately, 17,751 people have been charged so far this year with misdemeanor
weapon possession, almost 90 percent in New York City.

Yup how many of the guns were stolen, how many used in a violent crime, something they didn't tell in the article, were most of the arrest non-violent criminals with no previous records. The feel good article says nothing about what the Safe Act was to protect us against, this is why nobody buys into it. |

Yup how many of the guns were stolen, how many used in a violent crime, something they didn't tell in the article, were most of the arrest non-violent criminals with no previous records. The feel good article says nothing about what the Safe Act was to protect us against, this is why nobody buys into it.

1st I said "were most of the arrest non-violent criminals with no previous records", it didn't say but I'm sure they would of loved to throw that in if it were the case. So again where is the proof any real crime was committed, it didn't say. |

So again where is the proof any real crime was committed, it didn't say.
Where is the proof? HUH! Why not FOIL the information if you want to know so badly? A criminal with a violent past carrying a illegal gun with high capacity magazine... He was just out for a walk and decided to pack his illegal gun to show his buddies!  |

How many red guns were registered??? HUH! NO ONE KNOWS, the state WON'T POST THAT DATA! I wonder how many BLUE GUNS were registered??? No ONE KNOWS! The state is keeping that data secret!!!!! And the big question...
HOW MANY LEFT HANDED GUNS WERE REGISTERED???Again... the powers that be in NY State are keeping that data from it's citizens!!!!! What are they trying to hide??? Why have they not released this Very Important Data???  Sounds like a conspiracy to me! |

OK. That may be true. But what makes you think it's true??? They haven't posted how many "left handed Guns" are registered... I wonder why??? Could it be they are secretly stockpiling Left Handed Guns for some sinister plot??? For all I know they could have posted publicly all the info... How do you know that is

The wrong people are signing up for Obamacare, they need people with money to pay for those who are signing up for Medicaid and they are not signing up and you know it. The poor and those with severe health problems are signing up for Obamacare but not the young healthy people to pay for it. |
