An Iowa police chief is encouraging businesses in his city to prevent
customers from bringing handguns into their stores – and even mailed them
“no weapons” stickers for them to post.

“I am enclosing, at no charge to you, two stickers that I would like displayed boldly
on your business entries,” Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty wrote in a letter to 300
private businesses. “Although it is not mandated, I strongly encourage you to ban
weapons from your premises as it will make both our jobs easier.”

Had GunHuggers at the NRA helped keep guns safely away from the criminally insane with good
background check laws...
Sandy Hook and VA tech would have no meaning in this conversation... and all those victims
would be alive.

Not sure if background check would have done squat for Lanza.  He didn't purchase the guns.  Unless "good gun laws" include restricting guns from anybody that ever received mental health treatment and letting into their home.

And you should know you have every right to refuse access and or services
to individuals carrying firearms - concealed or not.

This doesn't mean that you're questioning gun carriers' rights. It only means
that you don't want guns around your customers and are asserting your private
property rights in order to provide a safe environment.

VACPS has teamed up with gunfreespaces.org to provide business owners in Virginia
with tools to secure their establishments and identify them as being gun-free.

Ya really don't get out much do ya???

Some proposed gun laws make it mandatory to secure your guns in your home.
That means if you have a felon or mentally dangerous person living with you, it is
your RESPONSIBILITY to secure that gun against their use.

SO...
YEA THIS LAW WOULD HAVE KEPT ADAM LANZA FROM HIS MOMS GUNS... THE ONES HE
MURDERED HER WITH ALONG WITH A 20 6 AND 7 YEAR OLDS.

Hmmm...Nope!  Unless this law requires that the state monitor gun safes 24-7.  Otherwise, all it does is charge the gun owner AFTER the murder.  Which in the case of Lanza, the mother was killed...So tell me again how this would have PREVENTED Sandy Hook?

Jezzzzzzzzzz Cissy... I know you don't read much but the press (and this board) has been
buzzing with NY's Safe Act for a year!!!
(Maybe Cicero is immune to new information that doesn't fit his agenda)

NY SAFE ACT:
Q: When am I required to safely store my gun?

A: You are required to safely store your gun if you live with someone who has been
convicted of a felony or domestic violence crime, has been involuntarily committed,
or is currently under an order of protection.

Q: What do I have to do to safely store my gun?

A: You can use an appropriate locking device including a trigger lock, a gun safe, or a
secure gun cabinet. Click here for more information on how to safely store your gun.

And for VA Tech:
Quoted Text
Vice President Biden says a mental health check on gun sales may have averted
the 2007 mass shooting on Virginia Tech‘s campus. Biden’s comments came after a
roundtable discussion in Richmond today that included experts involved with the gun
control commission convened after the university tragedy.
The vice president reported the panel had reached “pretty broad consensus” over what
criteria they proposed should deny a sale, including “mental capacity.”
“One of the problems that was pointed out here was that there was an adjudication of
the young man that committed the crime at Virginia Tech, and yet he was able to go
out and purchase two weapons,” he said.
In April 2007 student Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 at the Blacksburg, Va., campus using two
handguns. Cho had purchased the weapons legally, but subsequent investigations following
the deaths found Cho had a well-documented history of mental health issues.

How is it enforced?  Oh...After a shooting takes place.  It's about as effective as murder laws in preventing murder.  I don't know about you, but I don't commit murder for personal moral reasons, not a law.  Maybe you never locked your guns until they passed this law.

For cissy this law would definitely NOT work. Cicero has this big chip on his shoulder aimed at
anyone or anything in authority.
Cicero will on purpose disobey any law... just because he can.

For the vast majority of Americans... who for the most part, follow the laws, especially one like
this which may have fatal implications... Had Mrs Lanza followed the law and securely locked her
guns from her mentally imbalanced son... she and many others would still be alive today.

BTW... The now deceased Mrs Lanza was a GUNHUGGER... a leading factor in her demise!

For most Americans, this is obviously a silly law.  Making criminals out of otherwise responsible people.

America has the highest prison population in the world.  Mostly as a result of prosecuting victimless crime.  Plenty of Americans disobey silly laws, incarceration rate statistics prove it.

(Henry)... night after night he waits...
he schemes... for what he considers an inevitable shootout... but, alas, none happen.

I love this one right after he posted about the mass shooting occurring all over the United States, so what box is saying is that mass shootings are real but we shouldn't protect ourselves for such a scenario because gun free zone signs work LMAO. So which is it box? are guns crimes out of control or are we safe enough where we don't need to have the right of self defense, you can't have it both ways. Either way it is the stores right to not allow firearms, I'm sure criminals are going to love seeing these signs up on their next target.

Yup. None in my life time. Or my dads, or my sons, or my friends... but Henry still waits...
