Waves of Controversy: Sam Adams' Not-So-Patriotic Beer Commercial

A new commercial for Sam Adams beer rolled out yesterday on the July 4th holiday ... and it's already creating waves of controversy over an omitted phrase.
The manufacturer's decision to leave out "endowed by their creator" in its invocation of the Declaration of Independence has critics outraged, but Sam Adams says they were just following regulations.
In a statement, the company said:
"The Beer Institute Advertising Code says, 'Beer advertising and marketing materials should not include religion or religious themes.' We agree with that and try to adhere to these guidelines."

If you're going to quote the declaration of independence at least say what it says, are Atheist really outrage by that line in it

A bartender quotes Sam Adams in a commercial, quoting 15 or 20 words of the 1300 words in the Declaration of Independents and the Righties are Pissin Their Pants!!!
I wonder if the bartender is a Muslim... then Endowed by Their Creator would not mean "Christ" but "Allah"!

Seems like this was a "damned if you do" or "damned if you don't" situation. The regulations say that you can't mention religion or a religious theme -- so if they had included it, someone would be crying "foul." Since they didn't include the words, someone else is crying "foul."
Sam Adams is a good beer. Not quite as good as Ommegang but pretty close. So enjoy a cold one on a hot day.
