The United States Supreme Court struck down section 5 of the Civil Rights Act, and in so doing gave the "green light" to states to implement state laws requiring voters show some form of I.D. before casting its vote. Technically, the court struck down the provision that required the Justice Department to review and approve any changes in state voting laws. Within minutes of the court decision, Attorneys-Generals or Secretarys of State in several states took action to begin formal implementation of previously approved Voter I.D. laws - laws which had sat in the back of the bus waiting the Supreme Court's decision on this case.
This is a great victory for all Americans who value the U.S. Constitution and who believe that voting is BOTH a right and a sacred privilege that shouldn't be allowed to be abused by power-grabbing, power-abusing left-wing nuts.

the Supreme Court declared Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 unconstitutional. Section 4 is the formula which determines which jurisdictions are subject to “preclearance” under the law. The decision did not strike down Section 5, which sets out the preclearance requirement. But without Section 4, which determines which states are covered, Section 5 is without significance — unless Congress chooses to pass a new bill for determining which states would be covered

the chances of this Congress passing it are slim and none. IMHO, the federal oversight was valid for specific states when it passed in the 60's... today it should be for all or none.

The radio news reported it as Section 5 .. so it was Section 4 .. the point is that Mandatory Voter I.D legislation can be written, passed into law and implemented in ALL of the 50 sovereign U.S, states.
Now the left-wing nut promoters of fraud like Obama and the Pelosipalosers will have to come up with some other way to steal votes.

Last week they ruled no states can create laws regulating federal elections; thereby making voter ID laws inert.
Yes, the states can pass laws regarding non-federal elections, but for federal elections no voter ID is required to register.
That is not exactly how those two decisions are interpreted. The first one -- last week -- the court said that a state could not require Voter I.D. as part of the registration process. The second one does allow a state to require an idea when the person actually comes to the polls to vote.
