The best argument, to me, as to why this isn't feasible is the point in the article about the victims noticing the pain from the device.

I contend that power is not a major issue, if you had a real "truck" you could have room for a 120 VDC battery bank, or a 2kw generator.

I wasn't considering 300 yard effective range, I was thinking more in feet, but yes I imagine probably the only way for people not to feel lethal doses of x-rays would be a moderate dose over a longer period of time.  The victim would need to be stationary though.

I think the article makes some very good points, but let's all realize that NON-industrial x-ray machines that we have experienced at doctor's offices, often have the x-ray source in the neighborhood (if memory serves me correctly) of 3-5' away.

And the exposure is SUPER quick, and even that they don't want to do very often.

So what would an industrial x-ray do, at 10', if pointed at a person for several minutes?  Not saying they'd die next week, but not so sure what the victims long term survival odds are.

I don't want to find out.  I admit there are technical obstacles that mitigate the risks to make this a weapon, but I still think it may be possible to do some real damage to people.

These two are sick individuals.

I agree that their thought process was sick, but the practical implementation was HIGHLY improbable without the encouragement and assistance of government agents that DO know how to create such a weapon.  If these people were left to do this on their own, this fantasy idea would have died on the vine because of the level of sophistication and expertise.

The only organization of criminals that could follow through with such a warped and sadistic plot is those in the government.  This experiment these guys were trying to do was already done by our government 50 years ago, with radiation testing conducted on unknowing citizens. They've done these sadistic plots against unknowing citizens for decades using disease, radiation and with psychedelic drugs.

It’s humorous listening to the sick and twisted in government calling these two morons sick and twisted and charging them with a plot to use A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION.

Cicero can't imagine a Osama BinLaden or a Timothy McVeigh... His hatred of his own govt has blinded
him to the point that he only sees GOVERNMENT Terrorism... regardless of the bodies at the WTC, at
Oklahoma or at Boston.

To fit his agenda it MUST be Govt Terrorism... It Just Must Be!

Authorities accused Glendon Scott Crawford, 49, of Galway, and Eric J. Feight, 54, of Hudson,
of creating the truck-mounted X-ray device so it could employed by Jewish groups or other
organizations intending to harm Muslims.
Though the system was never at risk of becoming fully operational,
prosecutors believe the blueprint the men created would have
resulted in something capable of being activated from nearly a half-mile
away and causing significant injury without its intended victims every
realizing its existence.

Today's Daily Gazette

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?
It can be ACTIVATED from a half mile away.
It can be TURNED ON from a half mile away.

Big deal, there are systems that enable you to turn on (ACTIVATE!) anydevice in your home, via cell phone, from anywhere in the world.
Time Warner, and ADT would love to sell you one.

Do we disagree???
They could have parked this truck in a busy city area, left the scene and activated the device from
miles away.
We agree?

It's called being rational.  First, the government trained and armed Al Qaeda and now they attempt to scare the public of their own creation.  Second, McVeigh was trained in explosives by the military, he allegedly carried out his attack in response to the federal governments massacre in Waco, so there is a second government created "terrorist".  Third, the federal government has a long history of experimenting on its citizens to measure the effects of whatever deadly weapon they are creating to use on some population.  They tested radiation, chemical, and biological weapons on them.

So statistically box, a fear of the federal government would be much more rational based on the fact they have the means, the know how, and a history of willing to use them against their own population.  Sorry I can't join you in fearing a couple of yahoos from Galway and their hair brained plot.  It was HIGHLY unlikely anything would come of it.  But it was useful to the government as propaganda to keep a heightened level of anxiety amongst the sheep.

Be afraid, be very afraid!!!

McVeigh was one of your brothers in arms, he was a combat engineer. You're closer to him then any Tea Party members

As homeland security warned us in 2008, Right Wing Militia and Anti Govt Crazies might try to recruit
former military to use their knowledge of arms and explosives to further their attack on America.

He's one of yours Cicero... Like you he HATED HIS GOVERNMENT.  He welcomed the death and destruction
of his bombing against his government.  All those little kids killed in his Anti Govt attack... It must have
brought a tear of pride to your eye when that building came crashing down.

McVeigh is as big a disgrace to the US Army as Oliver North is to the Marines.

Interesting that a Militia didn't let him in because of his radical views but the army let him in and trained him to be the killer he was. Did you even know that a Militia didn't accept him box or are you just spouting bs from the Clinton administration.

Box, you didn't shed even a crocodile tear after the massacre at Waco did ya? All those women and children, dead at the hands of your moral and just democratic government.  You not only shed a tear for those dead women and children, but you cheer it.

Naaaah...I know...They DESERVED IT.  Janet Reno said they deserved it.  They were CRAZIES that needed to be exterminated by the armed men in costumes.

McVeigh was a big disgrace huh? How about Lee Harvey Oswald, or Jack Ruby?  Both military men.  How about James Earl Ray, another fellow in arms - killed MLK.

Seems like ya got a few "disgraces" coming out of the armed forces.  Go figure.   It is the government institution that houses all of societies rejects.

I don't understand your post.
Are you saying that you don't know about the G Worst Bush ordered Homeland Security Report warning
against Right Wing Militia?

You can read it here:

IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT KEEPING THE STATUS QUO.......there are no saviors in either political party.....JUST the status quo

those who control the land control the masses
those who control the food control the masses
those who control the water control the masses
those who control the fiat system control the masses
etc etc etc........

nothing new under the sun especially Box's trust of that tree in front...."...there is no forest, there is no forest,
there is no forest, there is no forest....."

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I would like to point out that whilst this Schenectady nut was walking around loose so the FBI could watch him to see what he would do, the very same FBI decided not to bother watching the Tsarnaev brothers, whom they had been warned about. Could it be that the feds wanted very bad to apprehend
'terrorists' who were plotting AGAINST muslims, for PC "balance", wanted "fairness" so bad they devoted their resources to nuturing these nuts, taking a gamble with American lives? It looks very much that way to me. Well their gamble didn't pay off so well, did it? In fact, I would say that very bad decisions led to needless loss of lives on 9/11 and Patriot's Day.

When this 1st happened I questioned if this was a FBI screw up for the exact same reason as this case, the FBI has funded and armed many people only to bust them later on. I find it weird they actually were holding a bomb exercise at that event, they had bomb sniffing dogs and everything, it later came out that they were training for the exact same scenario, a couple men with backpacks detonating explosive at the event. They say it was a coincidence but...
