That was a good vote.  One for which every patriotic American is thankful.  Folks like Obama, Pelosi and Tonko were denying the terrorist threat for years, and bashing President Bush and anyone who supported him and our efforts to stop terrorism.   Obama couldn't even use the word "terrorism" in regards to the Terrorist assault on our Consulate and the Assassination of our Ambassador in Benghazi until someone loaded the word in his teleprompter.

As for the topic of legislators reading legislation -- it has been my personal experience that very few legislators - state or federal - are actually informed and really involved.    Representatives Stratton and McNulty were exceptions to that -- they were exceptionally good representatives, and Stratton was a virtual walking encyclopedia of knowledge about the many bills and issues before Congress.  Representative Gibson is the only area representative that comes close to the high standards that Stratton and McNulty set.

The State Legislature is a joke.  I have only met a few New York legislators (and even then 98% of those were from other parts of the state) that IMHO had the potential to be great legislators.  The best local legislator in my lifetime was Clark Wemple with Jim Tedisco coming in behind him but a bit further back.
The problem with the legislature is that the members are basically just puppets with the big hand of downstate public interests stuck up their keesters.

Just so we all understand Ron Paul's PRO WAR VOTE.  (Some on this board seem oblivious to it.)

It was quite similar to the Gulf OF Tonkin Vote that it allowed the US President wide powers to
carry the war forward with very few restrictions... essentially it circumvented congressional
"declaration of war", instead giving that power to the US President... and Ron Paul voted YES!

That was a great vote -- I supported the decisions to fight the War on Terrorism 1000%.  My only objection is that we moved too slowly to kick their asses and that we didn't napalm the poppy fields in Afghanistan.

Yes Ron Paul's Pro Afghanistan War Vote is public record... even though many, even some on this very board,
will paint Paul as an "Anti War" Republican.
When given the chance to vote for a $3 Trillion Dollar War, Ron Paul voted YES!!!
