The ACA is costing those who buy their own health-care insurance a lot more money than what the government told them it would. All the lies that were told to the American people could cost the Dems a few votes come 2014.

YUP!  Wars suck!
So does not having affordable health care.

One has little to do with the other.

affordable based on who's definition? you don't know my budget any more than the government does....
and I don't know your budget....

Nope but again:
Wars suck!
So does not having affordable health care.

One has little to do with the other.

buying health insurance compared to buying milk

milk at the local market is $4.00 gallon...they change suppliers and now milk is $5.00...I have to go to this market
because my food card says so based on a rule of law deemed good for me.... is it affordable?
the next question is what happens if I don't buy this milk...is it bad for my health if I don't?
or how about if I am forced to buy this milk and then never use it but dump it down the drain because I don't find it's
value worth it and quite frankly don't like it and it's not what I want my diet to be.....it it bad for my health and
does it have value?

the difference between milk and health insurance....drinking milk is a health CARE choice whether for or against...
being forced to buy mandated health INSURANCE how/when. is like lining everyone up to get their numbers in a
concentration camp so that the officer in charge of that camp can own your health CARE......

YOU are mixing apples and oranges Box

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

BTW, Obama press secretary Carney's doublespeak on the "if you like your insurance, you can keep it" issue is just laughable....

Docs resisting ObamaCare
By Carl CampanileOctober 29, 2013 | 5:23am

New York doctors are treating ObamaCare like the plague, a new survey reveals.
A poll conducted by the New York State Medical Society finds that 44 percent of MDs said they are not participating in the nation’s new health-care plan.

Another 33 percent say they’re still not sure whether to become ObamaCare providers.
Only 23 percent of the 409 physicians queried said they’re taking patients who signed up through health exchanges.
“This is so poorly designed that a lot of doctors are afraid to participate,” said Dr. Sam Unterricht, president of the 29,000-member organization. “There’s a lot of resistance. Doctors don’t know what they’re going to get paid.”

Three out of four doctors who are participating in the program said they “had to participate” because of existing contractual obligations with an insurer or medical provider, not because they wanted to.
Only one in four “affirmatively” chose to sign up for the exchanges.

Nearly eight in 10 — 77 percent — said they had not been given a fee schedule to show much they’ll get paid if they sign up.
The survey invited doctors to anonymously share opinions about the new health care law, and many took time out of their busy days to vent.

“Obama Care wants to start right away, but who see all these new patients???? Not me,” e-mailed one doc.
Another said, “I plan to retire if this disaster is implemented. This is a train wreck.”
“I refuse to participate in the exchange plans! I am completely opposed to this new law,” said a third respondent.
One doctor recycled the mantra used to attack addictions: “The solution is simple: Just say no.”
One physician was so disgusted, he threatened to taken only cash patients going forward.

“I am seriously considering opting out of all insurance plans including Medicare because of [ObamaCare].”
Some physicians said the pressure on insurance carriers to control costs is leading to rationed care.
“OBAMACARE is a disaster. I have already seen denial of medication, denial of referrals,” one doc said.
And they worry that stingy payments for medical services offered by insurers could put some doctors out of business and force others into retirement.

“Any doctor who accepts the exchange is just a bad businessman/woman. Pays terrible,” argued one doctor.
Said another MD, “Can’t imagine any doctors would be willing to work for so little money? All doctors should boycott.”
Doctors complained they’ve gotten the shaft for years even before ObamaCare.
“I get screwed from insurance companies already. I refuse to get screwed any longer,” one doctor said.
Others said they don’t have enough information to make an informed choice.
“This is a joke. We are flying blind,” said one doctor.

And Cicero didn't vote, so he is responsible for absolutely nothing... but that doesn't stop him from
whining about the government that he let OTHERS select for him.

I voted - didn't get counted.

By the way, I'm responsible for myself and my family.  I don't vote that responsibility away to a bunch of liars and crooks.

Funny that you say that.

IIRC Obama touted over and over and over and over "If you like your current plan, you can keep it." and even won the 2012 election riding on the back of the ACA.

Guess you didn't get the government YOU helped elect into office because FOR YEARS THEY KNOWINGLY AND WITHOUT PREJUDICE LIED RIGHT TO YOUR FACE!

Obama admin. knew millions could not keep their health insurance

By Lisa Myers and Hannah Rappleye
NBC News

President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.[/size]

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC NEWS that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.”

Everyone that I know still has their previous insurance... but that insurance has been improved since Obamacare.
They now have a yearly physical with no co pay.
Women now have access to periodic gyno exams with no co pay.
The rate of increase in health care costs is down and dropping... so we can all thank ObamaCare for that too.

Based on the reports I've seen (not on Fox), some people are being forced to have coverage that couldn't possibly use... like the guy who has to have neo-natal coverage for his 59 year old wife!....This entire process was rushed... from the website to the one size fits all health plans...

I said repeatedly I don't necessarily have an issue with universal health care, but I do have an issue with the LIES, DISTORTIONS, and backroom deals told and done to get this l law passed and active.
Yesterdays Obama statement was an example...he said only 5% will be losing their plans.. Well that 5% is of the total insured...of those total insured, only 20% are individual policy buyers...so, in reality, of the people affected by the plan requirements, it's 25% that will lose their plans , not 5%..

Forbes: White House Predicted in 2010 That 93 Million Would Lose Their Health Plans Under ObamaCare
To counter accusations that the President lied when he repeatedly told Americans they can keep their health insurance plans if they liked them, the administration has claimed that he was referring to the millions of people covered by their employers.

An article from Forbes Thursday thoroughly refutes this claiming that Obama officials back in 2010 predicted that 93 million Americans would have their plans cancelled as a result of ObamaCare including a vast amount of those with employer-sponsored plans:

If you read the Affordable Care Act when it was passed, you knew that it was dishonest for President Obama to claim that “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan,” as he did—and continues to do—on countless occasions. And we now know that the administration knew this all along. It turns out that in an obscure report buried in a June 2010 edition of the Federal Register, administration officials predicted massive disruption of the private insurance market. [...]

[T]he administration’s commentary in the Federal Register did not only refer to the individual market, but also the market for employer-sponsored health insurance.

Section 1251 of the Affordable Care Act contains what’s called a “grandfather” provision that, in theory, allows people to keep their existing plans if they like them. But subsequent regulations from the Obama administration interpreted that provision so narrowly as to prevent most plans from gaining this protection.

“The Departments’ mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013,” wrote the administration on page 34552. All in all, more than half of employer-sponsored plans will lose their “grandfather status” and get canceled. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 156 million Americans—more than half the population—was covered by employer-sponsored insurance in 2013.

my spouse's co-worker is 65 years old, works full time and doesn't plan on retiring. Wants to keep the health insurance they have had for over 10 years.....guess what.....they CAN'T!!!

They HAVE to apply for medicare and purchase a supplement.
It's mandated!!!!

Another couple we know...husband has one employer....wife has another. wife has always carried the family medical coverage.....UNTIL NOW!! Both companies will cover employer only and only ONE can get family coverage. So now it will be costing them 1 1/2 x's more per month for their health insurance!!!

A friend of a friend (don't know them personally) just had hours cut from 40 > 29!!!! He had family coverage. Now the wife has to get it from her employer for substantially MORE money. They checked on the 'exchange' and it is STILL more.

YOU CAN NOT KEEP YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY.......CAN'T in most cases!!!!

Talk about calling journalists out. Deborah Cavallaro was all over the news on Wednesday as
an example of someone who lost her existing health insurance thanks to Obamacare. Except
one problem—the plan she qualifies for is better.
~ Under her current plan, she is limited to two doctor visits a year, pays $293 a month with a
yearly deductible of $5,000.
~ Cavallaro says she was told by her insurance broker she would be paying $478 a month—but
she didn’t check the website herself.
~ There, she would have found a better plan, with only a $2,000 deductible and all doctor visits
covered by a copay—for only $40 more a month.
