Just 51,000 people completed Obamacare applications during the first week the Healthcare.gov website was online, according to two sources inside the Department of Health and Human Services who gave MailOnline an exclusive look at the earliest enrollment numbers. The career civil servants, who process data inside the agency, confirmed independently that just 6,200 Americans applied for health insurance through the problem-plagued website on October 1, the day it first opened to the public. Neither HHS nor the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services would comment on the record about the numbers. Enroll America, the president's organization of health care 'navigators' who are charged with helping Americans sign up, didn't reply to a request for information about its level of success so far. The White House also did not respond to emails seeking comment. But several administration officials have claimed this month that they didn't have access to the kinds of raw figures MailOnline obtained from the people who work for them. And the anemic totals suggest a far lower level of interest in coverage through the Affordable Care Act than the Obama administration has hoped to see. The Reps aren't trying to shut Obamacare down only delay the individual mandate for 1 year and eliminate the 3/4 payment for Congress. Congress cooked this mess it's only fair that they have to partake in the process so maybe they will straighten out their screw-ups.
Explanation of the Appeal to Poverty / Appeal to Money
These two fallacies are opposites, but they are so closely related that they are presented together. The Latin term for Appeal to Poverty is argumentum ad lazarum and the Latin term for Appeal to Money is argumentum ad crumenam.
These two fallacies take the following forms:
1. X is rich or expensive, therefore X is correct or better. 2. X is poor or cheap, therefore X is correct or better. In both cases, an appeal is being made to accept or reject a conclusion based upon literal or metaphorical wealth - either the wealth possessed by someone or the cost of something. This is a fallacy when that wealth (or lack thereof) is irrelevant to the proposition being defended (and it's rare that wealth or cost is relevant).
Appeal to Poverty
The fallacy of an appeal to poverty occurs whenever someone attempts to base a conclusion on how poor a person or thing is. Some easy examples of this include:
3. Priests and nuns are more likely to possess insight into the meaning of life because they have given up the distractions of wealth.
4. Our church is a non-profit organization, and no one is getting rich from it. Isn't that what God wants? Doesn't that show that we are doing the Lord's work? In both of these cases, the argument is only relying upon the apparent poverty of those involved and tries to conclude that this poverty someone increases the likelihood that those people are correct or moral. In neither case is such poverty relevant to the question.
This fallacy is not restricted to people:
5. The accident had to have been the fault of the driver of the Corvette, because the other driver's car is such a piece of junk it can barely reach a speed of 70 km/h. The argument here is that the poor quality of a particular car must exhonerate the driver of any wrong doing. What is ignored is the fact that high speeds are not the only causes of accidents.
A common form of this argument appears in some Christian apologetics:
6. If the authors of the gospels were going to invent a religion, then surely they would have not had the people behaving in such a negative manner (Thomas doubting, Peter denying, Judas betraying...and even Jesus lost his temper). Why should anyone want to mix with such a bunch of weak-willed wallies, let alone follow their fictitious religion. If on the other hand, they were merely relating what actually happened, then it makes sense. Real people DO behave like that. Made-up saints don't. Aside from the fact that this argument also begs the question as to whether or not any real saints do exist (and, hence, that we can claim to know how they would act), it also appears to be an appeal to poverty. It's not an appeal to literal, financial poverty, though. Instead, it argues that the "poor" behavior of characters in a story somehow makes it more likely that those actions really did happen and, therefore, that the characters were real people.
Appeal to Money
The Appeal to Money fallacy goes in the opposite direction, arguing that when someone is rich or when an item is expensive, then this somehow impacts the value or truth of the proposition in question. The most common form of this is:
6. It costs more, it must be better. There are quite a few people out there who are under the mistaken impression that the cost of an item, and that alone, is indicative of its value and usefulness. Entire marketing campaigns are designed around the goal of getting potential customers to believe that the product is expensive and therefore worth having.
Somewhat less often we find this fallacy being applied to people as well:
7. Bill Gates favors this new technology bill. He has gotten wealthy in the software industry, and he couldn't have done that if he didn't know what he is doing. Therefore, this proposed bill must be a good idea. Here, the proposition that this proposed law dealing with technology is a good idea is defended on the grounds that a person who got rich from technology supports it. The assumption is that this success and wealth is somehow relevant to the question when it really isn't.
The above example can also be labeled as an appeal to authority and would count as an appeal to an unqualified authority because it is not established that Bill Gates is authority on the area of technology in question, much less its wider social implications. It is, however, being included here because one reason why he is being used as an authority is his great wealth.

A job engine sputters as hospitals cut staff Paul Davidson and Barbara Hansen, USA TODAY 8 a.m. EDT October 13, 2013 Hospitals are cutting thousands of jobs, undercutting a sector that was a reliable source of job growth, even through the recession. Hospitals, a reliable source of employment growth in the recession and its aftermath, are starting to cut thousands of jobs amid falling insurance payments and in-patient visits. The payroll cuts are surprising because the Affordable Care Act (ACA), whose implementation took a big step forward this month, is eventually expected to provide health coverage to as many as 30 million additional Americans.
"While the rest of the U.S. economy is stabilizing or improving, health care is entering into a recession," says John Howser, assistant vice chancellor of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Health care providers announced more layoffs than any other industry last month — 8,128 — mostly because of reductions by hospitals, according to outplacement firm Challenger, Gray and Christmas. So far this year, the health care sector has announced 41,085 layoffs, the third-most behind financial and industrial companies.
Total private hospital employment is still up by 36,000 over the past 12 months, but it's down by 8,000 since April and more staff reductions are expected into next year.
This month, Indiana University Health laid off about 900 workers as part of a move to trim its budget by $1 billion over five years. Vanderbilt plans to eliminate 1,000 jobs by year-end to help shave operating costs 8% a year. And the Cleveland Clinic is offering buyouts to 3,000 employees as it shaves its annual operating costs by $330 million.
they are re-leveraging.....folks with years service are being dumped to hire part timers who will be required to take the ACA sh!t.. AND forced to take the flu shot as if they are the military.....
healthcare WILL NOT be a preferred job...especially the front line workers in the trenches

Statist logic, a program is a huge failure, so leave it alone and allow it to fail and destroy people's lives. Over 30 years of a failed "war on drugs", or 50 years of a failed "war on poverty" but you must keep them going, because the beaurocrats making a living running these failed policies can't lose their jobs. So they'll tell you these policies just need more money and they will work.

Hey, how about instead of blaming the GOP, ask yourself this question....
The feds had nearly 4 years to plan and prepare and over $680M to set up and implement.
How is it that such a catastrophic failure has occurred in a system that is really nothing more than a portal to buy insurance.?
And it's still not up

Canada's health care system is a group of socialized health insurance plans that provides coverage to all Canadian citizens. It is publicly funded and administered on a provincial or territorial basis, within guidelines set by the federal government.
Under the health care system, individual citizens are provided preventative care and medical treatments from primary care physicians as well as access to hospitals, dental surgery and additional medical services. With a few exceptions, all citizens qualify for health coverage regardless of medical history, personal income, or standard of living.
Canada's health care system is the subject of much political controversy and debate in the country. Some question the efficiencies of the current system to deliver treatments in a timely fashion, and advocate adopting a private system similar to the United States. Conversely, there are worries that privatization would lead to inequalities in the health system with only the wealthy being able to afford certain treatments.
Regardless of the political debate, Canada does boast one of the highest life expectancies (about 80 years) and lowest infant morality rates of industrialized countries, which many attribute to Canada's health care system.

Canada Health Act
The Canada Health Act is federal legislation that puts in place conditions by which individual provinces and territories in Canada may receive funding for health care services.
There are five main principles in the Canada Health Act:
Public Administration: All administration of provincial health insurance must be carried out by a public authority on a non-profit basis. They also must be accountable to the province or territory, and their records and accounts are subject to audits.
Comprehensiveness: All necessary health services, including hospitals, physicians and surgical dentists, must be insured.
Universality: All insured residents are entitled to the same level of health care.
Portability: A resident that moves to a different province or territory is still entitled to coverage from their home province during a minimum waiting period. This also applies to residents which leave the country.
Accessibility: All insured persons have reasonable access to health care facilities. In addition, all physicians, hospitals, etc, must be provided reasonable compensation for the services they provide.
Canada's health care has a large impact on the Canadian economy. Here are a few facts and figures about the economy and health care:
Health care expenditures in Canada topped $100 billion in 2001.
Approximately 9.5% of Canada's gross domestic product is spent on health care. In comparison, the United States spends close to 14% of its GDP on health care.
Individually, Canadians spend about $3300 per capita on health care.
At a provincial level, funding is between one-third and one-half of what provinces spend on social programs.
About three-quarters of all funding comes from public sources, with the remainder from private sources such as businesses and private insurance.

"ObamaCare was designed to help solve three very difficult problems:
1. slow down rampant double-digit health care inflation, 2. stop the burdening of emergency rooms by the uninsured for treatment of non-critical health issues, 3. promote more access to health care, especially in states, like in the South, where access is often difficult or non-existent.
That’s why and where Ted Cruz and his Tea Party and Republican counterparts have missed a golden opportunity. They could have provided a better solution to those three problems. They have provided none. They have had to fall back on a disproven and self-destructive ideology – anything the federal government does is bad and wrong. They ran to be part of a national government that they didn’t want to be part of!
They had the opportunity to lead the national discussion about what the role of the federal government should be in the 2014 presidential election. They have had opportunities to lead the national discussion about what the post-war US role should be in making and keeping the world peaceful. They have had opportunities to lead the national discussion about what to do with the monies saved by a reduced military. They have had opportunities to present realistic ways to stimulate the national and world economies. They have failed, and failed, and failed to do so because they have no new ideas, just the same failed ones."
