The report didn't include this data but it's been previously reported that one of the benefits of
ObamaCare is that many Americans who are stuck in jobs only to provide Health Care Benefits, can
now leave and do other things.  Many were predicted to form their own startups. Others to care
for their grandkids, or elderly parents.
I know of one such case personally.  They are no longer "employed" but are instead, an "employer".

If they become employers, they should boost the rate up...I don't think there's enough of them to make a dent in the rate..
The vast majority of Americans that still work aren't the boss/owner, they are the worker bees.
The lower the participation rate goes, the more the burden on the people that are still working to support the ones that aren't...
To balance the ledger, either you have to increase taxes, reduce services, or both..
The boomers will continue to retire, and the push will be there to not only make SS solvent, but to boost benefits because a good portion of the boomers decided to buy $300K houses and new cars instead of saving for retirement...
All this "freedom" provided from ObamaCare will cost someone more money, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out who...There's no other way to balance the books.

Increase taxes on the rich (back to where it used to be) Cuts costs (Cut military and Corporate Welfare)
or both.  I suggest both.

I noticed you didn't touch on the real large expense/debt that the government has to pay; SS, Medicare/Medicaid and now add the cost of health-care to the mess and your solution doesn't work even if you tax millionaires at 100%. Sooner or later the big welfare programs have to be dealt with or the country faces bankruptcy.

Not enough... to be where you want to be, we have to face the fact that we would have to increase the effective tax to a rate of European countries

http://www.economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail/2012/10/focus-4

The countries in the list that provide cradle to grave services like you desire don't have huge Military's and still have effective rates more than 50% higher than the US has now.
As much as you want to it to be, there isn't a free lunch... if you want to eat, you have to pay for it.

No Shadow, I didn't.  I was responding to Tbird's post:

"To balance the ledger, either you have to increase taxes, reduce services, or both.."
Since they were HIS WORDS, NOT MINE, I wonder why you didn't challenged him, instead of me ???

Why would he challenge me when he pretty much agrees that the "soak the rich and reduce the spending on the Military and corporate Welfare" manta STILL won't be enough?

The Top 1% have the Free Lunch, and they are also eating our lunch while they are at it:

From the 1940's through 1990, Millionaires were made in this country paying their fair share.
The country prospered, jobs were created and the economy boomed.  Then what happened?
Reagonomics, the Rich got Richer and the Middle Class became the Poor.
Tax the Rich as they did in our grandfathers day and the economy will return to it's former glory.

No challenge just the fact that we can't climb out of the fiscal hole we're in without addressing the real problems which are entitlements.

Again. Those are Tbird's choice of words, not mine.  Mine were a response, yet you gave Tbird a pass and commented on my
response.

Box, you're living in Fantasyland...There were recessions and bad times in that period just like today. Economies have growth periods and recessions, it's been that way..well, pretty much since the beginning of man. The big difference is, back in that period, we didn't have the social "safety net" (and other spending) that we have to today..and that has to be accounted for.
I have no issue with taxing the rich at rates that were present in the 1940's-1990's, but again, it won't be enough. We are in too much of a hole, both in present debt and future debt.

I know it makes you feel good that you can just point to the rich and Military and say "just fix them and it will be ALLLLL better".. it's just not true...
The proof of that is looking at Europe and what their citizens are required to pay for the services they get.... Neither the Dems or the Pubs can tell the American people the truth anymore, because we been lied to long enough, when the truth is in front of us, it means political death to the person that speaks it.

I heard a political truth when Obama said if you elect me I will fight for universal health care for Americans.
I believed him and despite 7 years of obstruction we now have ObamaCare... Affordable health
care... JUST LIKE IN THE REST OF THE DEVELOPED WORLD.
When people say... there is no difference between the Reps and the Dems... they are often attempting
to blur the actual differences.

If you like your health policy you can keep it

There are plenty of differences when it comes to policy
There are no differences when it comes to the act of lying...except what and who they are lying about/to.

We do have healthcare, well not all of us, but a bigger percentage do, time will tell to see if it's affordable.
It's early in game. heck, some haven't even paid their premiums yet.
For those that don't get sick, it probably will be affordable... for those that do, we'll see when some have to pay their $10,000 deductible whether they think it's affordable too.

I had a friend who's premiums were over $2000 a month with a $10,000 deductible because of a
preexisting condition.  He now pays about the same rate as I do.

and my wife has a co-worker whose policy doubled... it's anecdotal...

I will agree the two things that ARE good are the pre-existing condition ban and the dependent age push up to 26

Obama did say 2 truthful statements: I will fundamentally transform America, and under my administrations policies energy costs will necessarily rise.
