"IG Farben was the most powerful German corporate cartel in the first half of the 20th century and the single largest profiteer from the second world war. "IG" (interessengemeinschaft) stands for "Association of Common Interests": IG Farben included BASF, Bayer, Hoechst, and other German chemical and pharmaceutical companies....IG Farben, was the only German company in the Third Reich to run its own concentration camp. At least 30,000 slave workers died in this camp; a lot more were deported to the gas chambers. It was no coincidence that IG Farben built their giant new plant in Auschwitz, since the workforce they used (altogether about 300,000 people) was practically for free. The Zyklon B gas , which killed millions of Jews, Gypsies and other unfortunates was produced by IG Farben's subsidiary company Degesch."
here's to your 'health care'.....
medical care and health care are NOT the same thing........
national healthcare will give us all concentration camp numbers, we will have our cake and eat it too.....

About the Alliance for Human Research Protection Print E-mail Mission Statement
The Alliance for Human Research Protection (AHRP) is a national network of lay people and professionals dedicated to advancing responsible and ethical medical research practices, to minimizing the risks associated with such endeavors and to ensuring that the human rights, dignity and welfare of human subjects are protected
Board of Directors
This year, more than 15 million Americans will be recruited into clinical trials.
The AHRP mission is to stand up - and speak out - for the human rights of research subjects - especially those who are vulnerable and /or susceptible to coercion, manipulation and exploitation. Those who are incapable of exercising their right to informed consent are in greatest need of protection from research abuse
Disadvantaged children are sought as human guinea pigs - even toddlers and infants, some living in foster care; Elderly people with impaired reasoning capacity, some living in nursing homes; People disabled by mental or physical illness; Illegal immigrants and disadvantaged populations living in underdeveloped countries; Prisoners, including members of the armed forces. AHRP is the best-known, most visible, proactive citizens' watchdog organization bringing to public attention - through our daily Infomails - issues affecting the safety of people in clinical trials.
The AHRP's Unique Contribution: We provide a public awareness forum through education, media exposure, and appeals to conscience and social justice, by,
Spearheading an educational campaign for informed consent to empower ordinary citizens with information they can use to better protect themselves and their children from undue risks of harm. Join our Campaign for Informed Consent. Providing prospective research subjects with information and a questionnaire designed to inform them of their rights and responsibilities, thereby enhancing the process of informed consent. [link] Sending alerts to professional groups, the media, and political leaders about violations of ethical standards in medical research. Presenting the general public with timely, relevant information in a sustained educational effort. Calling for reforms to improve clinical research designs and oversight. Developing a web-based library and clearinghouse of resource materials for the use of both clinical investigators performing research on human subjects and the potential subjects themselves. Insofar as nearly all of the AHRP's work is performed by unpaid volunteers, who are donating both time and other resources to the organization, we offer a unique point of view untarnished by conflicts of interest: none of us has a direct financial interest in any medical research enterprise.

I think that they may go to the ER because that's where they have gone in the past.
As far as waiting in line... Have you ever been to the ER with a non emergency? Most ER's will refuse a common cold and will tell you to go see your own DR. ER's don't have to treat you unless you have a life threatening condition.
I have...but they still will see you the same day... which the article claims is in the main reason for going, when they can't get a same day appointment with a regular doctor. ER's don't have to treat a non-life threatening condition, but they almost always do...the money is just too easy...especially when the patient claims to have no doctor.
I have said from the beginning that Universal health care is a good thing, the problem I have is the way it was sold...both with claims of $$ savings and how it was to be financed. I don't the believe the young, healthy, and uninsured will enroll as a civic duty and I feel the supposed "savings" like above are based on hope more than fact.

Yea, I'm hoping that when the Righties realize that they've been taken for a ride, they'll join their Democrat brethren and help pass 'single payer'.
I'm waiting for lefties to wake up and realize their party voted to subsidize "big business" and "Wall St" in the tune of billions. But hey, both parties will get their campaign coffers filled with some of that money. Win-win...And the charade continues...
....... 50 years of a failed "war on poverty" but you must keep them going, because the beaurocrats making a living running these failed policies can't lose their jobs. So they'll tell you these policies just need more money and they will work.
Without government programs for low-income Americans, the poverty rate in the United States would be nearly twice as high as it is today.

Guess Who Signed Up For OBAMACARE Today?? YUP! Senator "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" Rand Paul!
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul said yesterday that he has enrolled his family in Obamacare, but he isn’t happy about it. In fact, he says he has “been in a bad mood ever since.”

and you have a crystal ball for this 'fact'.....the only reason there are low-income Americans is because we seem to think that working UNDER another human for some arbitrarily valued fiat is better than making our own and bartering with our neighbors....
go ahead and say it's because capitalism ruined it, then try to explain how the government just fairy tale equals everything out and provides the 'more' that we WANT.
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS

The life expectancy at birth between the highest and lowest states is a difference of 6.3 years. 9 of the 10 states with the highest life expectancy are blue states while all 10 of the lowest are red states. Unfortunately, this differential is expected to increase with the decrease in accessibility of Obamacare in America's red states.
Due to the obstructionism of Republican governors, those who are most in need of health care will be left to fend for themselves against predatory insurance companies.

Most of that chart can be attributed to the Southern diet, which is MUCH higher in fat and calories than the northern diet, and tobacco use, which by percentage is higher in the south...add to that, the more sedentary lifestyle in the south due to the heat If you notice, the red state that has the highest age life expectancy is Utah, which is far removed from the south.

So Tbird posts that the reason those Republican Southerners are dying so young is that they are lazy, smoke and eat too much.... (And that they vote for Republicans, so they have no health care.)

No, just posting the truth instead of trying to support some political agenda... and BTW Boxy, I'll bet ya there isn't much difference in life expectancy in those "red" states for Dems, pubs, independents, and non-voters...you'd have to look at social-economics rather than party affiliation

Lifestyle choices do add years to the human body, but also a factor is health care and in many of these Southern states, they have opted out of much of ObamaCare, leaving the uninsured dying needlessly due to lack of health care insurance.
Red states also have the highest divorce rate, the highest teen pregnancy rate and the highest infant mortality rate.

My point is that Republican Red State Politics kills it's citizens. Dems or Reps may live equal life spans in those states, but the reason that they both die at a younger age is Right Wing Red State Policy.
