So you argue the IRS issue in the NSA thread, and the NSAissue in the IRS thread.

Cicero, you've got your alphabet mixed up again.

If there is a White House/IRS link... no one in all these hearings has shown it... and witnesses have
testified against it...So unless there is something new???
It's just one more Republican Invented Scandal!

No wonder Congress approval is at an all time low.

No, I am pointing out that the Director of National Intelligence LIED to a Senator during a Senate hearing, and the lie wasn't discovered until Snowden blew the whistle.

Again...What's your point?

Yes... you are posting about the GOP NSA Scandal while in the IRS Thread.

I am waiting for the actual connection between the decision to target the TeaBaggers and the White
House... SO far there is NONE.

The actual person who targeted the TeaBaggers is a Conservative Republican, who has no knowledge
of White House involvement.

SO again... how is the White House involved if there is no connection???
And AGAIN... I'm still waiting for the Scandal... So far it only exists in Conservative Imaginations.

CNN Poll: Did White House order IRS targeting?

Posted by
CNN Political Unit
Updated 8:01 a.m. ET, Tuesday, 6/18

Washington (CNN) – A growing number of Americans believe that senior White House officials ordered the Internal Revenue Service to target conservative political groups, according to a new national poll.

And a CNN/ORC International survey released Tuesday morning also indicates that a majority of the public says the controversy, which involves increased IRS scrutiny of tea party and other conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, is very important to the nation.

Republicans argue that the Obama administration used the IRS to intimidate and harass political opponents. Democrats say poor management at the tax agency, rather than political bias, is to blame. Congressional sources on both sides say that interviews with IRS workers so far have found no evidence of political dealings by the White House. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, touting an independent IRS inspector general report, has said the scrutiny appears to have originated with "IRS officials in Cincinnati," where the agency's tax exempt division is centered.

GOP tries to keep focus on IRS targeting scandal

Last month only 37% of the public thought that the IRS controversy led to the White House, with 55% saying that agency officials acted on their own without direct orders from Washington. Now the number who say the White House directed that IRS program has increased 10 points, to 47%, virtually the same as the 49% who believe the IRS agents acted on their own.

"Younger Americans are much less likely than older Americans to believe in White House involvement, and there is, not surprisingly, a partisan divide as well," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "But the Obama administration may be losing independents on this matter. In May, only 36% felt the White House ordered the IRS to target conservative groups; now that number has crossed the 50% threshold."

Fifty-one percent of those questioned said the IRS controversy is a very important issue to the nation, compared to 55% who felt that way in May. In the past week and a half, the IRS story has been put a bit on the backburner, as the controversy over the federal government's massive surveillance program has dominated the spotlight.

The poll was conducted for CNN by ORC International June 11-13, with 1,014 adults nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

The IRS is under the Department of Treasury headed by Jack Lew, who was appointed by Obama.  Do you understand how the federal government is structured?

As the commander in chief and the President of the USA, Obama is ultimately responsible for any actions
taken by the US govt.  From his cabinet members right down to some lowly Federal Park employee.

Since there is no indication anywhere that this directive came FROM the White House TO the IRS, there
is no Scandal... no cover up... no nuttin!

Much like the other GOP Manufactured Scandals... they all evaporate in the light of day.

The Washington Post:
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have just released a
full transcript of testimony from a key witness in the investigation of IRS
targeting of conservatives — and it appears to confirm that the initial
targeting did originate with a low-level employee in the Cincinnati office.
It also shows a key witness and IRS screening manager – a self described
conservative Republican — denying any communication with the White House
or senior IRS officials about the targeting.

So anyone have an actual Scandal???
Anyone???
Bueller???
Anyone???

There is a little conflicting testimony on this issue, give it a little time to develop until the whole true story is exposed.   IRS employee in bombshell congressional interviews about tea party targeting: 'Washington, DC wanted some cases ... I sent seven'

By David Martosko In Washington

PUBLISHED: 11:45 EST, 2 June 2013 | UPDATED: 12:16 EST, 2 June 2013

Interviews with IRS employees have established that the Washington, D.C. headquarters of the Internal Revenue Service was engaged in targeting tea party groups and other conservative organizations for unfair levels of scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status.
Rep. Darrel lssa, chairman of powerful House Committee of Oversight and Government Reform, made that startling announcement on CNN Sunday morning.

'As late as last week,' he said, 'the [Obama] administration was still trying to say the [IRS targeting scandal] was from a few rogue agents in Cincinnati, when in fact the indication is that they were directly being ordered from Washington.'

The OBAMA IRS was admittedly targeting tax exemption status based on political affiliation.

The OBAMA DOJ was eavesdropping on James Rosen because they claimed he was a co-conspirator in a crime for reporting a story about a foiled "terror plot".

The OBAMA NSA is secretly collecting the electronic communications of all American citizens and storing them on a government data base.

These are three federal bureaucracies that fall directly under the executive branch of government.

Of course there is no scandal.  Obama has been campaigning against every abuse of power coming out of the executive branch, as if he has nothing to do with it.  If there is no scandal, then he obviously has NO CONTROL OVER THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE HE APPOINTED TO RUN THEM.

It is up to the Obama administration to take appropriate action to end abuse.  However a "SCANDAL"
denotes illegal or inappropriate behavior.  There is no illegal or inappropriate behavior on the part of
Obama or his cabinet... so yet again... Where is the scandal???

Wrong- the Obama Administration is supposed to PREVENT the abuses.  He is the final check of power, he is the administrator. Every CEO of a large corporation knows you are supposed to have CONTROLS in place to prevent unethical and illegal behavior.  These abuses took place over the course of YEARS with Obama allegedly not knowing anything about it.  What controls did he have in place?  Who who lost their jobs for violating them?  How come his appointees allowed this to go on for so long?

A CEO can't blame the CFO for embezzling money from his company.  That would mean he wasn't managing the CFO with things like periodic audits.

So your argument is that Obama was unaware of all of this going on, and his cabinet went rouge or are incompetent.  Which means Obama is incompetent.

The President, like the CEO is responsible to find corruption or mistakes and correct it.
If a IRS agent is stealing taxpayer paper clips, the US President isn't culpable unless he knew of
the theft and covered it up, protecting the thief. (Which would be a SCANDAL)

Since the President/CEO is not directly involved, and the perpetrators are from the opposing party,
his responsibility is to prevent this kind of abuse in the future.  Punishment, if appropriate, should
come from the criminals immediate supervisor, not the CEO.

Again... There is no connection between the White House and this incident.
