corporations are machines with a personhood that function to keep the American imperial machine going....we are little cogs in that machine. Those machines need someone to run them and take the headaches and stress involved. Not unlike those we elect to the Presidency/Congress....they want prestige/money.....that's what we have set up as our civilization and we use terms like 'fair share' as if we would know......
none of them do it for free....now unless we stop putting other humans in charge of 'stuff' that we don't want to do for ourselves we will always be chained together in this 'coalmine', for better or for worse.
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
Pope Francis Warns The Rich And Powerful To Protect The Planet Or Suffer God’s Wrath
During a Tuesday mass to open the general assembly of the Catholic charity Caritas, Pope Francis warned “the powerful of the Earth” that they had better start caring more about the environment if they want God to have mercy on their souls. The pontiff made it clear that there is no excuse for anyone going hungry in this world because as long as we take care of the environment and stop being greedy, we can produce enough food to feed everyone:
Quoted Text
“The planet has enough food for all, but it seems that there is a lack of willingness to share it with everyone. We must do what we can so that everyone has something to eat, but we must also remind the powerful of the earth that God will call them to judgement one day and there it will be revealed if they really tried to provide food for Him in every person and if they did what they could to preserve the environment so that it could produce this food.”
Considering the fact that Republicans and the conservatives who support them here in the United States have been working alongside Big Oil and Big Coal corporate executives to allow perpetual polluting of our air, water, and land while at the same time denying climate science that says we are nearly at a point of no return to reverse the damage done, it seems very reasonable that Pope Francis is talking directly to them.

“These people are so greedy, they’re so out of touch with reality. They think they own the world…I’m sorry to have to tell them, they live in the United States, they benefit from the United States, we have kids who are hungry in this country. We have people who are working two, three, four jobs, who can’t send their kids to college. Sorry, you’re all going to have to pay your fair share of taxes.”
— Sen. Bernie Sanders, in an interview with CNBC, on Wall Street executives.

“Look at the American revolution, the anti-slavery movement, the women’s suffrage movement, the civil rights movement. All of these struck a moral chord with the American people. They all sought to overcome an injustice. And we, too, are seeking to right injustices that are holding our country back.” — Billionaire industrialist Charles Koch

— Donald Trump

I'll take that as a no, since the federal income tax wasn't instituted until 87 years after Jefferson died. Go figure...the pro labor alliance is ignorant to the fact that Jefferson opposed taxing LABOR. Irony...

Cissy has a difficult time keeping up. Once he gets a wrong idea in his head, there is no fixing it. Cicero... YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO MENTIONED A 'FEDERAL INCOME TAX'. NOT I!
I will repost and see if Cissy does better the second time around: Tax The Rich... You know... Just Like Thomas Jefferson Proposed:

Ok...What type of tax is Jefferson proposing? Care to clarify? My understanding is that Jefferson repealed all internal taxes. The federal government was funded on import taxes.

The Jeffersonian Perspective Commentary on Today's Social and Political Issues Based on the Writings of Thomas Jefferson
"It is undeniable that Jefferson had no problem with the rich being taxed more than those of modest income, i.e., a graduated tax, as discussed in greater detail in The Flat Tax and suggested by the following passage:"
Quoted Text
"Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise." --Thomas Jefferson to J. Madison, 1785.
In his time, virtually all government revenues came from taxes imposed on imported goods, which meant the tax was imposed almost exclusively on the well-to-do. As a result, almost the entire burden of financing the government was borne by the rich. Jefferson apparently had no problem with that. It was a tax on a kind of consumption in which mostly the rich indulged. On the other hand, to "take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned" refers to burdensome taxes on everybody, and actually sounds like it could refer to an income tax. So there is good reason for believing that Jefferson might oppose a tax on incomes. Jefferson copied a passage from Montesquieu that indicated a rejection of a tax on persons, which the income tax, in effect, is.

Hey...We agree! I never knew you were a Jeffersonian. I would have guessed you more as a Hamiltonian.
Eliminate the federal income tax and tax imports.
See what I mean? The "dunce" never gets it right.

Geez...I thought you said you supported Jefferson's tax proposal to repeal all internal taxes and fund the federal government with import taxes. You don't support Jefferson's tax proposal anymore?
