Friends of ours were going to buy a frig from Lowes. Lowes asked the husband if he was a Veteran and he said 'yes'. Lowes told him that if he had a VA card they would give him 10% off on the frig purchase. So off they went to Albany to get a VA card......well......when they went, they filled out all the paper work...... the husband was told he was not eligible because he made too money. The husband explained how he spent 4 years in the service during the vietnam war.....didn't matter. They told him that this became law in 2003.

Anyone else here of this?

Bumble I thought every Vet was eligible for the card, will check into it.

If they haven't bought the fridge yet, tell them to look at walmart.com and other stores in the area if they find one cheaper Lowes will match the price. I saved $100 on a
washing machine this way.

this is the way of the world.......power over all.....how about smeone who served during Korean war and not eligible for military honors......denied...denied....and more denied......

we've been searching the internet and we do find 'income eligibility' for HEALTH BENEFITS for all vets.  However we haven't found anything yet regarding a card that one could use for discounts.

Bumble talked to my SIL who is a vet and he said for your friend to go to the Veterans administration on Holland Ave and ask for a Veterans ID card.
ALL veterans can get the ID card which entitles the 10 percent discount. If you want my SIL's phone number for your friend to talk to PM me.

Forgot to add any vet can get an ID card doesn't matter how much money they make someone screwed up at the VA  

County Court House Issued Veterans Cards  – Some Counties such as in New Jersey and New York have opted to provide county veteran ID cards until the states can begin offering.  Check with your local county courthouse to see if they offer veterans cards.  These cards are not official but for the purposes of receiving discounts from businesses this should work.  This has been confirmed by many veterans.

thanks rpf....they actually got refused a veteran's id card at the Holland Rd location. We have been trying to call them (husbandand wife) tonight but they must be out....no answer. I will pass this info along...thank you so much again!!!!!

I emailed them the link...however...he already has on of those issued to him by Saratoga Co. Lowes will not honor it (per their corp HQ) They will only accept the VA card from the Fed Gov VA administration!!
