That's not some kind of big time junket. I used to commute to NYC 4 times a week. It's no big deal.
I don't like the guy, but rest assured, he's not down there being treated like royalty, he just scored a couple of free tickets.
He is stupid enough to brag about it though.
In the movie, Schenectady is portrayed as a run down desolate place of despair.

This reminds me of the guy with pimples and cokebottle glasses in high school that the girls in the cheerleading squad get to carry their books. I guess it takes them a while to realize that this is not exactly a tribute to schitneckyitty. Eventually the guy with the pimples realizes they are laughing at him, but with this crowd of fools, one never knows if they will realize the joke is on them.

As Monument Valley was for John Ford, as uplifting a backdrop could be, our home town is now going to be the canvas for the art-house flunkies, film school drop outs, and drug addicts that make up the independent director cadre! Now, when cut-rate independent filmakers want to film in the crappiest, dirtiest, crack whore infestedess, smelliest, no hopeiest, no talentedess, no way outedness dump; when even the best art directors like Menzies, Ybarra, Okey or Furst couldn't recreate that feeling of grime, despair and poverty- they now know where to come to be hosted, feted and blown. They have found that ideal den of collective inequity that a great scriptwriter can only dream, yet a crew could hardly build. It IS SCHIT CITY! THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES! THE NEW HOLLYWOODLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!

It must comes as a shock to certain nayboobs that YES .. people do actually come and go -- across the city line -- and actually do travel to other places.  My guess is that a certain he/she nayboob who frequents this site is even shocked to find out that people actually do leave their houses and don't remain locked in the attic for years like he/she has been.

Guess it comes as a shock to a certain dem voice that the city is falling apart, the tax base is plummeting beyond belief, home values are plummeting, people who want/need to sell their homes are unable to even after a year, and when they do sell the price is far less than what the mayor claims the house is worth, taxes are almost the highest in the country, Erie Blvd (the part that is NOT getting the unncessary narrowing and re-do with unnecessary expensive fancy lighting) is loaded with potholes doing damage to peoples cars causing them to pay for repairs on top of paying the highest taxes in the country.   The city is in huge debt.  The city's credit is shot.

The mayor should NOT be traipsing off to see a movie when the city is millions in debt.  He should be staying IN the city and paying attending to the problems of the CITY.  

And I DEFY the cheerleader for the mayor to provide ONE teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE that the city is improving because of the move, show that the tax base is improving because of the movie, show that homes are selling easy and increasing in value because of the movie, show us that the neighborhoods are improving and becoming good places to live and raise families because of the movie.

Remember, DV, remember how McC helped cover-up King Phillip's illegal STAR exemption.  And DV, don't forget to praise me and thank me for being the first to come out and say how Morris was stealing from the taxpayers via the STAR exemption he had/has illegally!   And remember that it took OVER ONE YEAR from the time I went public with it until something got done and it was thanks to obviously several people reporting it all to the news because I can tell you for certain that the news source that came out with it did NOT hear it from me.  

Good to know that the billion-dollar-taxpayer-funded Proctors couldn't figure out a way to bring this to their theater....maybe bringing a renewed sense of pride into the City. You know, big premier in the electric City??
