A dog park could be built at no cost to the taxpayers -- a) using existing municipal park land or if someone donated land and b) if between dog-owners, local businesses and other interested citizens the improvements (fencing, park infrastructure) were donated and c) by charging a nominal annual fee for the pass card to access the dog park. The fact is that a number of municipalities across the country developed dog parks in such a way -- the dog parks end up at least paying for themselves and, in some cases, bringing in some additional revenue to help fund other parts of the parks and recreation program. |
