Rand Paul wins The Washington Times-CPAC 2013 Straw Poll Marco Rubio takes second place By Stephen Dinan and David Sherfinski-The Washington Times Saturday, March 16, 2013
Sen. Rand Paul won the 2013 Washington Times-CPAC presidential preference straw poll Saturday, and Sen. Marco Rubio was a close second, easily outdistancing the rest of the field and signaling the rise of a new generation of conservative leaders who will take the Republican Party into the 2016 election.
Mr. Paul won 25 percent of the vote, and Mr. Rubio collected 23 percent. Former Sen. Rick Santorum was third with just 8 percent, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — who was not invited to speak at the three-day Conservative Political Action Conference — was next with 7 percent, and Rep. Paul D. Ryan, the GOP’s vice presidential nominee last year, was fifth with 6 percent..............>>>>................>>>>..............Read more: http://www.washingtontimes.com.....-poll/#ixzz2Nnt6bCaE
don't know if there are enough 'independent thinking patriots' left in this sheople-ish country for Rand Paul to pull a win for the presidency. But one thing is for sure......the present standing GOP is clearly getting a well deserved enema!!!

For the second year in a row, Ron Paul won the presidential straw poll at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, earning 30 percent of the vote. The Texas congressman, known for his libertarian views, ran for president in 2008 but was never a serious contender for the GOP nomination.

The CPAC audience is always full of Paul supporters. It is estimated that 52% of CPAC’s audience was young libertarians, which demonstrates the problem with the CPAC straw poll. It doesn’t reflect who actually votes in Republican primaries. If GOP primary electorate was a majority young Libertarian, Ron Paul would have been a two time Republican presidential nominee. But the people who vote in Republican primaries are actually old and white.
Rand Paul is already more of a mainstream Republican that his father ever was, but the CPAC straw poll is a better indicator of who isn’t going to be president than who is. I suspect that Rand Paul will do equally well in 2014, 2015, and 2016 too, and it will mean absolutely nothing.
CPAC is not good at predicting eventual presidents. According to USA Today, “Since 1976, only Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush have won the CPAC straw poll and gone on to win the White House.” No one should be surprised if by 2017, CPAC is 2 for 40 in picking winners. The lesson here is that any Republican who wants to be president would be wise to avoid CPAC.

Two for forty in picking winner? There were only 10 presidential elections since 76. CPAC straw poll winners won 40% of them.
Do you purposely distort these statistics or are you just that ignorant?

There were CPAC straw polls "WINNERS every year since '76... only 2 of them went on to be US President.

Given the predictive track record of the CPAC straw poll through the years:.
Since the straw poll was first held in 1976, only two of its winners have gone on to win the presidency — Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Only one other poll winner, Mitt Romney, even went on to win the Republican nomination (Romney is the all-time winning-est CPAC straw poll contender, with four victories: in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012).
The other straw poll winners: Jack Kemp (three-time winner), Phil Gramm, Steve Forbes, Gary Bauer, Rudolph Giuliani, George Allen and Ron Paul (two-time winner).

Yup, 2 CPAC winners won 40% of the presidential elections since 76. Not bad.
Now back to MY POST that you seem to disagree with:
CPAC is 2 for 40 in picking winners.

National Jewish Democratic Council denounces Rand Paul’s CPAC straw poll victory
In a statement released on Saturday evening, the National Jewish Democratic Council’s executive director, Aaron Keyak, stopped just short of declaring Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul anti-Semitic, and warned that American Jews should be alarmed that Paul won yesterday’s Conservative Political Action Conference presidential straw poll.
Regardless of political affiliation, American Jews should be alarmed that the Republican Party’s core activists have selected Senator Rand Paul to be their preferred standard bearer for 2016,” Keyak said in a statement. “Senator Paul has called multiple times to cut and end American aid to Israel, and has refused to rule out a containment strategy vis-à-vis Iran. Paul’s misguided foreign policy views are nothing short of dangerous, and his growing legitimacy among the GOP’s base is only another reason why the vast majority of Jewish Americans consistently support the Democratic Party.”
They hate anyone who doesn't have dual citizenship and doesn't put Israel over America.
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
I think that Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are the best choices for 2016. I intend on endorsing and actively supporting one of those three - if they choose to run. There is no one in the Democratic Party that I would even remotely consider voting for --- ANY Federal office.
