Vice President Biden Calls for Corporate ‘Legitimate Media’ to Shill for Gun Control
By Alex Thomas theintelhub.com February 12, 2013
In the last two months we have seen what can only be described as the largest attack on private firearm ownership in the history of America.
From gun grabbing Democrats to RHINO Republicans to the controlled corporate media, the push for gun control in the wake of the horrific Sandy Hook Mass Shooting has entered hyper-drive. Shortly after the mass shooting, President Obama put together a gun control task force headed up by Vice President Joe Biden that, among other things, put together a series of proposals that Obama then put into law through executive orders.
During this push for gun control, the entire alternative media, as well as a few prominent voices within the corporate media, have spent night and day fighting back against this large-scale attack on the 2nd Amendment with article after article full of the real facts about gun ownership and what its restriction would actually do.
This has caused the corporate media to, at times, actually whine out loud over the fact that pro gun voices even exist. Some talking heads have even gone as far as to call for the murder of a nationally syndicated radio host and the censorship of pro 2nd Amendment activists in order to somehow honor the Sandy Hook school shooting victims.
More recently, at a press conference on Sunday, Vice President Biden made a public plea to the corporate media to shill for gun control and attack any reports that claim that they are trying to take away guns from law-abiding citizens. “To be very blunt with you, we’re counting on all of you, the legitimate news media to cover these discussions because the truth is that times have changed.”
Biden went on to call claims that they are trying to take guns away from gun owners a “bunch of malarkey.” “I know that’s a word that you’ve never heard before, although it’s now in the dictionary.” {….} “The social media that exists out there, the tragedies that have occurred, the Supreme Court decision affirming that its an individual right to bear arms – all give a lie to the argument that what we’re trying to do is somehow unconstitutional, or somehow goes after the legitimate right to own and bear arms and to hunt and protect yourselves.”
Bidens’ remarks are eerily Orwellian and a direct smack in the face of the truth when you consider the fact that multiple states have already called for outright gun confiscation and that the federal assault weapons ban being pushed through Congress would absolutely take away guns from gun owners.
Over the last two months many have commented on the fact that the corporate media is already almost universally pro gun control. This was actually further verified through a study which showed that the big 3 networks broadcast pro gun control reports over those against gun control by a staggering 8 to 1 ratio.
Now with this public call by the Vice President, the American people can fully count on the big media networks to continue to ram pro gun control reporting down their throats.
Coincidentally, as noted by NewsBusters, NBC has announced a “a company-wide initiative examining gun violence, gun legislation and gun ownership.” The segments, to be part of a series called “Flashpoint: Guns in America,” will be aired on all of NBC News’ platforms including MSNBC, CNBC and NBC News Digital.”

"Today, Massachusetts leads the way in cracking down on gun violence," said Republican Governor Paul Cellucci as he signed the bill into law. "It will save lives and help fight crime in our communities." Scott Harshbarger, the state's Democratic attorney general, agreed: "This vote is a victory for common sense and for the protection of our children and our neighborhoods." One of the state's leading anti-gun activists, John Rosenthal of Stop Handgun Violence, joined the applause. "The new gun law," he predicted, "will certainly prevent future gun violence and countless grief."
It didn't.
The 1998 legislation did cut down, quite sharply, on the legal use of guns in Massachusetts. Within four years, the number of active gun licenses in the state had plummeted. "There were nearly 1.5 million active gun licenses in Massachusetts in 1998," the AP reported. "In June [2002], that number was down to just 200,000." The author of the law, state Senator Cheryl Jacques, was pleased that the Bay State's stiff new restrictions had made it possible to "weed out the clutter."
But the law that was so tough on law-abiding gun owners had quite a different impact on criminals.
Since 1998, gun crime in Massachusetts has gotten worse, not better. Instead of "lead[ing] the way in cracking down on gun violence," the state has seen gun violence shoot up. In 2011, Massachusetts recorded 122 murders committed with firearms, the Boston Globe reported this month -- "a striking increase from the 65 in 1998." Other crimes rose too. Between 1998 and 2011, robbery with firearms climbed 20.7 percent. Aggravated assaults jumped 26.7 percent.

You missed the best part, he wants you to run outside and fire off both of your rounds in the air in hopes that would scare the intruder , I pray nobody takes his advice, not only would the homeowner be killed there is a chance the homeowners shots kill the neighbors. If you do what he says in the city you would be arrested on the spot for endangering the public.
