Should all new homes built in New York state be equipped with automatic fire sprinkler systems? (Gazette)

Panel to recommend action to governor. (Gazette)

It is obvious in New York State  there is too much government with too many people sitting around inventing things to justify their existence.

Remember the toilet thing about how much water we flush.  We flush less now but more often for reasons I will not go into.  Then there is the light bulb thing.  No one can make sense of all the light bulbs out there & why one should use one & not the other.  Like politicians, we have too many light bulbs.  The 'gun control' legislation recently enacted by NYS is flawed, like just about everything NYS does.

A number of years ago the real estate industry in NYS tried to get legislation passed to mandate all home sales be accompanied by a license realtor, commission in hand.  Guess who is behind the Sprinkler Task Force.

Years ago I worked with a guy who would have his wife call him every hour or so at work so he would have to be paged.  It was meant to make him seem important to the staff (boss).  He was a distraction at best, a moron at worst.  Ditto what governs New York State.

Send the Sprinkler Task Force to Staten Island  & have them participate in restoration efforts.  How about a Common Sense Task Force in New York State?

I wonder what industry, or union is behind this?
Sprinklers don't save lives, they save structures.
Real life is not like TV.
By the the time a room gets hot enough to set the sprinklers off, any living being inside, is already burnt to a crisp.

Using smoke detectors to set them off wouldn't work either, because nobody wants to pay for thousands of dollars in water damage every time their wife burns the toast.

If you really require that type of protection, I would suggest large dry chemical ABC extinguishers in the ceilings, with a similar temperature sensor.
Sprinklers are way too expensive (they have to be done in threaded black pipe, PVC, or copper is not allowed) to be practicle.

The industry is all unionized, it is a suckhole for the unions to add $$ to the greedy rich 'new" homeowners

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Sprinklers save the building from being a total loss. They don't save the people in the building. What may apply to a large factory or something would be dynamically differnt than what applies to a home. Smoke detectors are 1,000 times more effective b/c smoke is what kills people as they are overcome and trapped and then suffocated by fumes. By the time a sprinkler kicks in, people are dead from smoke or overcome or unable to escape suffocation in time. Idiots who have never been in a building with a fire happening in it wouldn't understand, they only understand that they hate the people who have resources to buy a new house (and want to see them pay MORE!), and they only understand how they can enrich their cronies. However much the insurers love this, the price of your fire insurance is NOT coming down, either. They will probably knock 5 bucks the annual $700 premium.

liberals try to make you think they are motivated by love when in fact they are motivated by avarice and hate. The homebuilding industry has the misfortune of being politically hated and unacceptable to the governmentalists so therefore they most be destroyed inch by inch. This is the mindset of abject terror and hate from the modern liberal governmentalists.

Well that was dumb. I'm not a conservative, or liberal, but don't you think that a few large industries have their hand in this as well?
I clearly stated earlier, that the whole thing was bullsh*t.

As senders alluded to, they are fear mongering, and I hate to tell you, but that tactic is directly out of the GOP play book.

That proposed law would hurt the rest of us, just to benefit the few, but since when did that bother them?

Always remember, before a new law or regulation is inflicted on society, they have their asses covered in advance.

For example, schemers decide we should have emissions checks on cars, because their friends(lobbyists) paid to
have the laws enacted so that they would reap the benefits of the testing and repairs.

More revenue is needed so let's use the police to generate more funds by stopping everyone and looking for
violations under the guise of stopping DUI. This allows twice the revenue and not having to wait for someone
to actually do something wrong, just discover actions forbidden by the state during these "for the children"
constitution trampling checks.

Stop and inspect the going ons inside 100,000 vehicles to net 15 DUI arrests. This is pre-emptive arrests for
crimes likely to be caused by the alcohol, when in fact most drink people don't have accidents.

The gun issue is similar, they want to compile data to arrest people or deny them gun ownership, because
they have determined these people are most likely to commit a gun offense based on their own precognition,
studies and arbitrary conclusions.

101 that all are trained in.

PS. I'm not defending GOP they don't need help making their own nails
