"The GOP crackup was probably inevitable. Inconsistencies and tensions within the GOP have been growing for years — ever since Ronald Reagan put together the coalition that became the modern Republican Party."
"All President Obama has done is finally found ways to exploit these inconsistencies."
Here are where the fault lines are forming:
Quoted Text
1. Libertarians vs. social conservatives
These two GOP strains have never gotten along with each other. One group says government should stay out of people's personal lives while the other tries to impose its own morality on others.
2. Right wing populists vs. the pro-business crowd
Despite campaign rhetoric, pro-business Republicans are usually just fine with government subsidies, liberal immigration policies, and bailouts — as long as they help keep the profits flowing. But the populist strain in the party sees big business as no better than big government.
3. Deficit reduction hawks vs. small government activists
Though it would seem these two groups have a lot in common, real deficit hawks recognize we must raise taxes along with cutting spending to get the country out from under the debt burden. But the small government fanatics are against all tax increases for any reason.

"It's not the platform of the party that's the issue. In many cases, it's how we communicate about it." -- RNC Chairman Reince Priebus
The GOP still doesn't get it. They think that their message is fine... they just have a problem communicating that message.

Priebus trying to make the himself relevant. Priebus and the old guard RNC is the democrats best friend. They help sell the charade that legitimizes their power.
As the GOP fizzles into obscurity, the Obama Administration surges ahead in America!
A new ABC News-Washington Post poll finds President Obama "has advanced to his highest personal popularity since his first year in office, and Americans who've formed an opinion of his second inaugural address last week broadly approve of it."
60% of Americans now express a favorable opinion of Obama overall, up 10 points since last summer.

How people feel about a President or government in general is solely based on their wallets. As long as the economy appears to be growing and unemployment does not rise, they're all fat, dumb, and happy.
Things like the deficit and accrued debt are not effecting people directly, but will in the future. The fact is, I've come to realize the average American doesn't worry about it...either because they don't have the IQ to comprehend it, or just they don't care.

The President has come out strongly FOR gun control... obviously alienating the GunHuggers... but also drawing support from those Americans, including many NRA members. Obama's numbers are increasing in spite of the controversial gun control issues.

That didn't work too well for Prince Andrew... his approval rating went down 15% because of the gun law.
Like I said...American's feel better about their wallets, so these side issues take prevalence... But, if GDP slips for a few more quarters in a row and unemployment starts ticking up, Immigration, Gun violence, and climate climate will be nothing but a side show, and I guarantee no amount of spin will keep Obama's numbers from tanking...
Best political advice in the last 100 years? It's the economy, stupid.

Yup! From Bill Clinton!

Hey, I have no problem with the Clinton years.. good growth and balancing the Budget.. In the long term, you need good growth to be fiscally sound on the federal level.
The problem now is NEITHER party is helping.. the pubs are resisting tax increases and the Dems are resisting MEANINGFUL spending cuts. Both of those need to happen in order to stop the runaway debt.

Montana state Rep. Jerry O'Neil (R) has introduced a bill that would allow criminal defendants to bargain with a judge for corporal punishment in lieu of time behind bars, the Great Falls Tribune reports.
"The measure is already raising eyebrows and is sure to catch the attention of those on the lookout for 'bat crap crazy' legislation this session. Republican leadership has been doing its best to tamp down any potential bills the other side might use to embarrass the GOP as they work to craft a budget. This one apparently didn't get tamped."

It's the only way to end the present corrupt, staged 2 party system. One has to fall and no one really cares which one it is.....don't kid yourselves.....it's planned! The smarter, younger generation is setting the stage. This is just the beginning of the end of the present corrupt 2 party system!!! This is a good thing folks...just be patient....k?

Obama easily won the youth vote nationally, 67 percent to 30 percent, with young voters proving the decisive difference in Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The demographics among minorities and young voters will just grow as older white voters die off.

I'm sorry that you have such a low opinion of America's future. Those who vote for one political party when they first get interested in politics... usually late teens to early 20's, generally vote that same way throughout their life.
