That's his opinion, but I wouldn't go that far.

There are lots of us that have put our homes up for sale (ours goes up in a couple of weeks), but the area is far from looking like sh*t and there isn't a 'criminal element' that has invaded.

i'd be saying that too if I was trying to sell my home.

The cops were still out at the house late last night. I Drive those streets to avoid Brandywine (people just wander into the streets onBrandywine and Mcclullen without ever looking) and thought I was going to get stuck in some sort of checkpoint. The old man is right though-that neighborhood is going to hell. It's not quite there yet but it's not a far way off.

I work with a few Guyanese that were 'brought here' under the program.....they are very concerned

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

benny - Camden is way worse than Schdy will ever be - typically 50-80 homicdes

RE: chance of being a victim of ciolent crime - most assaults are either doesmtics or people known to each other and soem parts of the City are more violent than others.

Try walking down the street in Browsnville or parts oif Bed Stuy SChdy is not close to comparable.

This homicide remids of the one on Munford Street back in the early 90s.

Mumford St murders.
My recollection: The two old ladies (sisters) murdered for pot money by a perp who climbed from one building to another with a ladder. Pot is harmless, just ask the two old ladies.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

For pot money, really?  Maybe if the perp used the money out of his food budget to pay for pot, then the murder could have been for food money.

I can't even believe that we are comparing 'our murders' to those in another area!!!
Kinda like it's 'normal' and 'expected'! OMG!!

It's kinda like saying that those kids that have all died of cancer in schenectady county ain't that bad, since the stats are higher in another municipality!!! Try selling that to the parents!!!

Bottom line is that things are historically MUCH MUCH worse today in schenectady county regarding jobs, violence and crime and folks should be ALARMED.....not greatful that they aren't as bad as somewhere else....DUH!!!

But Schenectady is safer than 6% of the country.

Or if you prefer to be a pessimist, a more dangerous place than 94% of the country.

Sure there are a few really more dangerous places in the country, but
Schenectady is one of the worst.

Just wrap the entire city in crime scene tape and save a lot of work.

Nope. I have a clear recall on that one. Marijuana was the motive. This was early 90s. Ask Visitor. Of course when it is legal no one will be that addicted to it that they would kill to get the money to buy it. That will solve it because the drive to get stoned will end, by way of osmosis.

When it's legal you'll have the same amount of stoners, we just won't have to pay billions of dollars chasing around and jailing people for the victimless crime of consuming marijuana.

Alcohol prohibition really cut down on alcoholism and the crime caused by alcoholism.

As I recall it was cocaine; however, if it was $1,000,000 in jewels - it was senseless because the two women were in their 80s - how much resistance could they have put up?

Any news on this case?

This is the most troublesome murder in some time... A seemingly random act of murder.

The crime rate is down in Schenectady -- including murders -- according to the FBI crime statistics.
Downtown Schenectady has turned the corner .. and is coming back to life.

But AFTER TWO YEARS, has  REFUSED to provide EVIDENCE--a link to that alleged statistic

The first 8 years of Democratic leadership has brought tremendous improvements to Schenectady County --- the next 8 years of Democratic leadership will bring even more improvements.

The Renaissance goes on and on ....

The so called "tremendous improvements":

-  Almost the highest taxes in the whole country and still increasing
-  Home values plummeting
-  Inability to sell one's house
-  No one wanting to buy a house - increase in vacant houses
-  No one wanting to even rent in the city - increased vacancies of EXISTING units
-  Increase in foreclosures
-  Increase in crime
-  Increase in taxes and fees
-  Reduction in essential services
-  Theft from the taxpayers to provide lavish financial benefits on the super rich and politically connected (who also REFUSE to live here)
-  Failing school system
-  No choice in education
-  DRASTIC REDUCTION in tax base

To name a FEW of these "tremendous improvements"

When one is wrong, and too embarrassed to admit it, one will NOT respond but instead pretend to ignore posts

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
