You have no money to pay for a private or religious school tuition, then too bad, DV says you go to the government school. And in Schenectady, you might have to go here if you are low income (or have no money after paying downtown's property taxes):

Central Park students dismissed late after ‘threat’ investigation
Posted: Nov 26, 2012 3:58 PM EST Updated: Nov 26, 2012 3:58 PM EST
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Central Park students will be dismissed slightly later than usual Monday afternoon.
Law enforcement officials were called to the school Monday in response to a "perceived threat" written on a wall in the boys' bathroom. According to school safety protocol, the school was placed in a lockdown.
During a lockdown, students are not allowed to leave the classroom or be in the hallways and no one can enter or leave the building, according to school officials.
According to the alert sent out by the school, "While students will be dismissed shortly, they will not be allowed to go to their lockers even to get outerwear. Students who ride buses are boarding the buses now and will be running slightly behind. No students will be allowed back into the school until law enforcement officers thoroughly check the building and deem it safe." School officials say that once police finish their investigation, students will be allowed to enter the buildings and get their belonging.

Ironically they've since removed this notice from Facebook in exchange for this: http://www.schenectady.k12.ny.us/Notices/CentralPark_Note2Nov262012.htm
At least temps near 40 aren't to extreme, if one is out for a moment or so. What about children who had to walk home? How about if it was pouring rain? Thunder and lightning? A temp of 10 degrees outside? 10 inches of snow and no boots? |

unfortunately although I agree that the school systems need a revamp and completely disagree with locking in the kids....going outside without a coat is NOT a bad thing. kids learn early what survival is, especially when such choices by others affect you...it's called survival.... being in a city does NOT remove one's responsibility for self survival...although the systems we set up try to keep us civil and urbane so as to keep the status quo... after reading all the headlines lately, self survival in the city is doing well.... |

Of course they removed it, I mean, musn't allow the taxpayers to know what's going on. I'd say copy it into a document and send it to all the local news reporters, make sure they know how the school treats the kids and how the parents have absolutely no choice of where to send their kids to school (unless the kids live with two rich elderly mommies) |
