Been rough since Time Warner laid a ton of us off. Seems like I applied everywhere and nothing panned out yet. Went on a few interviews and still no job. Unemployment sucks, and it's barely keeping our heads above water. Any leads or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Looking for something in Schenectady or Rotterdam, preferably non retail. Pass any help wanted signs in the area? I feel hopeless and have literally applied at so many places.

I'm pretty much looking for anything that will pay the bills. Anything non customer service would be ideal. After so many years of dealing with the general public, I've lost part of my soul.

Haven't tried those places. Sounds like a good idea. Would like a job where I'm mainly left alone. A ditch digger would be ideal, lol.

Since you worked for TW, have you considered looking into DirectTV installs?

Tried applying to them, such a hassle. Apparently they use contractors and you have to apply through them. Tried that, and there's a freeze. Life sucks.

1. Janitorial or floor buffing.

2. Taxi, medi-cab, small school bus driver.(all 3 require easy to obtain licensing - no road testing)

3. Care of Clients with Developmental Disabilities. O.D. Heck, ARC and New Visions always are hiring. Often you
can get positions where you are needed to have a second person on-site and you can do sleep overs for most
of your hours.
However, you will need to deal with mentally or physically challenged individuals.

Great ideas! I like the idea of taking care of 'challenged' people. I can see myself doing that. I hope you do not need any outside training as I have zero experience doing that.

I use indeed and capital area help wanted. Applied to most of the jobs I have through there.

Have some call center gigs in Albany that a staffing agency contacted me about. Pay is between 10-12 an hour, which isn't great pay by any means, but is much better than what UI pays. Hope it pans out.

They provide all the training that you will need. My daughter has been doing it for 7 years. Pay isn't great, but you earn
vacation, sick days and health insurance pretty quick.

Not being picky per se, just want something good. Nickel and dime retail is what I am trying to avoid. A job that pays minimum of 10 an hour would be great at this point. Tw paid 10 but had killer commissions that I made a ton off of. Basically trying not to take too much of a hit on my next job. I went on Golubs site but they are not hiring at the moment in the area.

many jobs in other states...private business owners...have seen them on TV.....keep a watch where.....

probably better off moving out of state anyway.....here you have to know someone to get a job that pays well....
