Obama's Apology Tour Was Crafted By Handful Of Radical Advisors Thu, Oct 25 2012 00:00:00 E A01_A1 By PAUL SPERRYPAUL SPERRY12655 Beatrice Street Posted 10/24/2012 05:38 PM ET President Obama indignantly denied Mitt Romney's charge in Monday's final debate that his foreign policy amounts to "an apology tour" around the world. "This has been probably the biggest whopper that's been told during the course of this campaign," Obama protested. "And every fact-checker and every reporter who's looked at it, governor, has said this is not true." In fact, the president has followed a "doctrine of mea culpa" crafted by a handful of radical advisers who have urged him to, in so many words, apologize for America's war on terror and nuclear superiority.• Samantha Power. "U.S. foreign policy has to be rethought," according to Obama's national security adviser for multilateral affairs and human rights. "Instituting a doctrine of mea culpa would enhance our credibility by showing that American decision-makers do not endorse the sins of their predecessors." Power has suggested the president literally bow to foreign leaders, as atonement for Americans' "sins" — and that's exactly what he's done. A former New Republic journalist, Power is also a 9/11 apologist who thinks Islamic fanatics hate America because it backs governments that repress them — such as the Mubarak regime in Cairo. "It's not a coincidence that all but one of the 9/11 hijackers came not from axis of evil countries but from American allies, from Egypt to Saudi Arabia," she says. Power thinks the 9/11 massacre helped "Americans empathize with the victims of genocide." She redefines U.S. vital interests to include genocide, poverty and disease, and was the main White House aide agitating for removal of Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi on "humanitarian grounds." • Anne-Marie Slaughter. The former State Department policy chief, who last year returned to Princeton University, also has advised the president to apologize for the war on terror. "The president must ask Americans to acknowledge to ourselves and to the world that we have made serious, even tragic, mistakes in the aftermath of Sept. 11 — in invading Iraq, in condoning torture and flouting international law, and in denying the very existence of global warming," Slaughter said. • Rashad Hussain. The White House adviser-turned Mideast envoy helped Obama kick off his apology tour in 2009 with a remorseful speech to Muslims in Cairo that he helped draft. In the 6,000-word speech, which never denounced "terrorism," Obama apologized for the war on terror, lamenting "it led us to act contrary to our ideals." He vowed to close Gitmo, the detention camp at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba, and take other "concrete actions to change course." "The Obama Apology Tour" Or "MORE RIGHT WING NUT FICTION"What does PolitiFact.Com fact checkers say about Romney's alleged 'apology tour'? (But We All Already Knew That)
Quoted Text
Here, we're checking Romney's statement that Obama "has apologized for what he deems to be American arrogance, dismissiveness, and derision" and a host of other reasons. If you think American presidents should never admit to any sort of error at any time, you might find yourself in philosophical agreement with Romney's criticisms. We set out to discover whether Obama really had apologized in his speeches, and what he was apologizing for. But in our review of his words, we came up short. Yes, there is criticism in some of his speeches, but it's typically leavened by praise for the United States and its ideals, and often he mentions other countries and how they have erred as well. There's not a full-throated, sincere apology in the bunch. And so we rate Romney's statement False.

Spin away.
In the absence of any FACTS, and that my position agrees with many reliable fact checkers... I would suggest that the original post is the 'SPIN'. |

The FACT is that Obama did go to foreign nations and apologize and "talk down" about America. It is sad that we have a president and first lady who are -- to quote Michelle Obama - "not proud to be American". |

Fact Checker only agreed with your statement because Obama didn't use the word apology when he was saying how bad the USA has been in the past, splitting hairs. |

No - they are FACTS as seen very clearly in actually videotapes of Obama's speeches in those foreign countries. It is a FACT that shortly after becoming president - Obama traveled to several muslim nations. It is a FACT that while in those nations he gave a series of speeches in which he "talked down" the US and apologized for things that the US did in the past. So YOU and your "fact checkers" are completely wrong. |

While I"m not voting for Obama, his foreign policy has been more successful than anything else he has done (not saying much). Our last president turned the world's sentiment against us, and we need to acknowledge that to regain our position as the world's most influential country. Simply running around saying America is great, we have never done anything wrong, makes us seem like, crazy arrogant dick heads. I know this may be a tough concept for some board member's here, but the way we are viewed by foreigners is not as rosey as the way you view us. The rest of the world is not blind or stupid and can see when we do dumb or immoral stuff. Pretending it didn't happen is not gonna work. Obama has been honest, touting we have done great, and apologizing for the stuff we have done wrong. In doing so, the rest of the world's opinion of us is going up again, which in the long run is best for us. |
