and do any of you know a family that has "grieved" over someone who was killed by a drunk driver???

have any of you seen an accident up front involving a drunk driver???

apparently not......it is not a "revenue" catcher.....it's more about the cost of a funeral....sadly

and about the law that gets away with it???......they all needed help...years ago it was "ok".....today not so much......

Think  about the victims of drunk drivers.....doesn't that do anything to your conscience???....

ooops....have another drink on me...

Driving is a dangerous sport. Use it at your own risk.

Drunk drivers exist. They always have and always will.

People need to drive defensively.

Even then, some idiot will cell phone into you.

I got rear ended at a stop sign today by a kid on his phone.

There was no damage to my vehicle or his brand new Nissan.

He still continued talking on his phone as we got out to look for damage.

People are killed or injured by cellphone related accidents every day.

We don't arrest people for using phones while driving.

Great view points.....but what does that have to do with this guy 9th DWI arrest. Do you think he should drive again. Obviously he needs professional help.

professional from whom?

At taxpayer expense of course.

He made the CHOICE to drink
He made the CHOICE to drive

People claim drinking is an addiction, but he made the CHOICE to drink.   No one held a gun to his head and forced him to drink

I guess now we will hear of yet another "disorder"      Driving while drunk will be defined as an addiction.   Putting the key into the ignition while drunk is an addiction

Put a darn microchip of some sort, deep inside his system that's programmed somehow to stop him from driving when drunk.   How about a chip that gives him a shock when he drinks?   Technology is probably there.

But put the bill on him by garnishment from his bank account, wages, assets, to insure he pays the bill and not the taxpayers.

Did i say taxpayers expense...No i did not. He should pay for it himself.

Now does he need "professional help" because he was caught by police or because he drinks alcohol?

I used to hang out at the Union Inn years ago before it was sold to the current owner, and I'll tell you what, those off duty cops and Schenectady County Corrections Officers drove out of there WASTED on a daily basis.  They never got a DWI - surprising.  I wonder if you think they needed professional help.  Or is a badge all the professional help you need to conceal a person’s alcoholism.

I can introduce you to a couple of people that have driven legally drunk on a weekly basis for YEARS and never were caught and were never in an accident.

DWI is a revenue generator.  The police and lawyers LOVE this guy with 9 DWI's.

I will entertain your great post ! Needs help because obviously he has a drinking problem. Let me guess you never drove drunk ...correct. So you must of had a     Breathalyzer handy all those times at the union inn.

Correct. Operating machinery safely while intoxicated hurts no one.

Arresting people for being likely to cause injury should be applied to sports as well as drinking and driving.

If a drunk person can pass a road test. He should be allowed to drink and drive.

I know a lot gets lost in translation over the net...........but I wasn't condoning ANYTHING...........I was just stating a FACT!!
Drunk driving, just like speeding, is a CASH COW....so these folks pay their fines, get a slap on the wrist, then back out on the roads again to hopefully bring in more revenue. The other point was that those 'connected' get a pass all together.

So basically ONE WRITES OUT A CHECK and THE OTHER DOESN'T!!

That is all it amounts to....really!!

How do you know that he "obviously has a drinking problem", because the police pulled him over 9 times?  Sounds like bad luck to me.

As far as the Union Inn, I didn't need a breathalyzer. The amount of beers and shots consumed followed by the obnoxious behavior was evidence enough.  I mean, most of them were douche bags when they were sober, but after a few cocktails, they were real jerk-offs.

Only cops are privie to carry breathalyzers and use them selectively.

NEVER NEVER NEVER subject yourself to a breathalyzer........even if you have had NOTHING to drink!!!

who cares if the guy lives his life drunk.....we could NEVER prove that taking him off the road would save anyone....

it's backward stating.....

the what ifs in life.....

being a diabetic is a disease NOT drinking....but the government doesn't can't and won't tax a diabetic and their meds/food because
it's 'not cool',,,,but a diabetic could kill someone while driving just as well as someone drinking....especially if that
diabetic isn't in compliance with their diet/meds, thereby ruining their blood vessels to their eyes/brain/kidneys/heart etc,
causing enough co-morbitities to affect their driving abilities...same with a person with a pacemaker/defribrillator and cardiac disease

this conversation covers a very large area of government intervention for the purpose of $$ collection....just pay attention to
'the new healthcare rhetoric' and it's practices for national healthcare....remember, the levy in our social welfare is the
manipulation of our choices.....
