Does anyone here use Paypal.com ?  I'm interested to know if it's safe.  Someone wants to send me $ on there, I don't know how it works, or how I can actually GET the cash out of it.

I don't do bank accounts any more (since Northeast Savings Bank closed) - so I'm really leary of it.

Anyone ?

If they send you money it needs to be marked as GIFT or you wil have to pay a fee
HOWEVER, not sure if the funds received through Paypal can be disbursed to you any other way then transfer into a bank acount.
I've been using it for many years without problem, but more as a buyer then seller.
You can sign up for free on their site without obligation and then look a teh rules for all above questions.
GOOD LUCK.

We have a credit/debit card thru paypal. Money goes and and out of it as needed. (it's a bank account where  you pay out or access the money via the card)
Don't know about any other options since we've used it this way for years.

Thank you all for the information.  Is it safe to use otherwise?

It takes 3 days to tie your paypal account to your bank account.

I use it all the time to send money. All you need is the email address of the paypal recipient and you can transfer it quickly.

I have never paid a fee for a transfer. The transfer then takes 2-3 business days to appear in your account as well.

So starting from scratch without a paypal verified account tied to your bank account, it's close to a week to get the transfer completed.

One other thing, once you start using paypal they will give you a paypal Visa card with a $2,000 limit.

They upped my limit to $6,300 after one year.

Paypal for ebay is the nuts. You click on an item to buy and pay instantly with paypal and 2 days later the item is at your front door.

Agreed. I use a Greendot debit card to feed paypal. It takes 3 days to transfer money from Paypal back to the debit card.
Paypal can also mail you a check, and yes, it's safe.
One of my first transactions on Ebay was for a MIDI computer interface, which never arrived.
They refunded my money ($240) 2 days after I told them about it.

I have used Paypal in the past and never had an issue with it.  I do, however, have another bank account that I use along with it, in order to transfer money in / out.  It's been a while since I've actually used it as a seller.  Just like a credit card, Paypal charges the seller a fee, I don't know what it is anymore, for any purchases that are made with "fresh" money, that being money that is coming from an outside credit card of any kind.  The buyer never sees these, unless you're looking at something like a purchase through E-Bay, where the person probably offsets the Paypal expenses with additional "shipping and handling" charges.  That's how I used to do it.  I don't know specifically about them sending checks.  I do believe that they stopped offering the possibility to use it as a savings, with it paying interest.  I think you can just keep the money in there, but it won't earn a penny.

Thanks, that doesn't do me any good, I don't have a bank account (too many el federales sniffing around).  My SS check goes to a AARP debit card, and I pay everything off that.

This jerkoff sent me $50 and now it's sitting in some anonymous account with my email, that I can't do anything with (don't have a checking acct to send it to, and don't have any place to cash it).   After I told him not to.  Grrr. Morons.

Thanks for all your advice - I'm counting it as a loss I guess.

So why don't you open an account and put like.....10 bucks in it. Hell the gov't will think you are REALLY poor and perhaps they will throw some mon at ya.....yes? Staying off the 'government grid' is a great idea. 99% off the grid and 1% on the grid.

HAHAHAHAHA!...What a sucker!!

If you have a bank account then why would you ever need Greendot?

Oh, and don't give me that retarded bullshit of websites that don't accept debit/credit.

And you cry about Romney stealing money from the poor, yet you deposit money into a company that charges insane rates and fees?

Look how hypocracy stupid you look now!

Yeah...I went there.
