AGREE RACH.........evidently, the sex offenders have a right to their choices.....and some turn their back on them.....let em' go....it's a free country..
well, the statistics don't match what is being related in the news......too many children are unprotected from these perps ....and it's getting worse....
Technology of today has brought this problem into the light......unfortunately, it helps the perps with the access they have today....
Rach you are right on.....not hysteria....but concern.....and I guess not all have that mindset....

I didn't say to isolate these predators, what I said was that the school and the public will not alert the new SCCC dorm inhabitants of the 13 sex offenders in their backyard.
Why? Because everyone has the right to privacy...even IF your info is on the sex offender registry. No one can step off the politically correct soapbox and offer even a slight warning that 13 rapist can see in your windows.
No one wants to get sued, no one wants to get arrested and when a group of parents get a little concerned that a stranger in a car is approaching a bunch of unattended kids at a bus stop it's hysteria.
Sorry, I don't know the recidivism rate for child molestors, but it's not low.
they are NOT kids....for some reason we call them college KIDS.....after reading 50 shades of grey where the girl is a 'college kid' and he is a nice shiny millionaire....society doesn't know how to give these 'kids' the ability stop being so politically correct and non-offensive they have lost their survival skills.... BTW...if anyone gets a chance to read the book...it has a mass of material for jokes....endless... .....bad writing though... the pre-crime laws ie:1000feet/check ins etc do NOTHING....it's a falsehood |

50 Shades was fan fiction based on the Twilight series popularized by horny housewives who haven't the taste for real literature. Buy the book only if you think it's a good idea to support barely literate authors like this one and the shiftless schmuck who wrote "A Million Little Pieces." |

Police: Man approaching children a misunderstanding By John Purcell As of Wednesday, September 26, 2012 -3:43 p.m.
#ROTTERDAM — Mohonasen Central School District officials on Wednesday, Sept. 19, sent home a letter to parents regarding claims of a suspicious man allegedly approaching children, but police said it was a misunderstanding.
#Rotterdam police the following day located the man, who was a local resident, and he said the man didn’t mean anything by talking to the children.
#“It was just an innocent conversation,” Lt. Jason Murphy said.
#The man asked children to meet him at another location so he could give them free bicycles, according to the district’s letter. Police said the situation was a little different than first reported.
#“He saw bikes and thought it might belong to the kids he saw and talked to them,” Murphy said.
#Police officials and district officials were contacted about the situation and the district’s Transportation Department alerted bus drivers.
#The incident did provide parents an opportunity to talk to their children about how to react when approached by strangers.
#“We encourage you to speak to your children this evening about the importance of not talking to strangers,” district officials wrote in the letter. “We also encourage you to work within the community to provide adult supervision at your child’s bus stop to monitor their safety.”
#The district had urged parents noticing anything out of the ordinary, or children mentioning such incidents, to contact the Rotterdam Police Department at 355-7331.

Panic and calling the police is already is instilled in them. Try some common sense advice, like take a photo with your cellphone or get a plate number when you see something that doesn't seem right. An entire generation being taught fear and how to remain unapproachable and isolated. Positive parenting. |

Libertarian4life, I must disagree. I have been swayed to the other side. Let hysteria reign. (TIC) |

Did the "suspicious man" wear a tie that was obviously left over from childhood?

| Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies. |
