DOJ Fast-and-Furious Report: WH Aide Declined Interview With IG; 'White House Did Not Produce Any Internal White House Communications' By Terence P. Jeffrey September 19, 2012
(AP Photo/Michael Chow)
(CNSNews.com) - The report on Operation Fast and Furious released today by the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General says a member of the White House National Security staff declined to be interviewed for the inspector general's investigation and that the White House itself did not produce internal documents for the investigation because the White House said it was "beyond the purview" of the inspector general. The report said that gun traffickers purchased more than 2,000 weapons during Fast and Furious and that U.S. law enforcement officers eventually only recovered about 100 of these because "of a strategy jointly pursued by ATF and the U.S. Attorney's Office that deferred taking overt enforcement action against the individual straw purchasers while seeking to build a case against the leaders of the organization."

The truth will set you free why else would Obama protect some internal e-mails if not to protect Holder and the inner circle. Eventually the truth will come out and I hope it's before the election. |

Quoted Text
An investigation by an independent arm of the Department of Justice concluded on Wednesday that Attorney General Eric Holder had no knowledge about a series of botched gun stings, which began in 2006 under George W. Bush — until the operation’s flaws became public in January 2011.
The 471-page Inspector General’s report on “Operation Fast and Furious” discredits sharp allegations by Republicans in Congress who launched a witch hunt against Holder, subjecting him to hours of interrogation to float conspiracy theories, alleging repeatedly that the Obama administration was using the high-profile gun violence from the operation to garner support for gun regulation, and finding Holder in contempt of Congress.
The report debunks suggestions that Holder attempted to mislead Congress or cover up information, and confirms Holder’s own account of the operation: that it employed “flawed strategy and tactics,” but that Holder did not know about or authorize those tactics.
The report does hold several lower-level officials responsible for their role in what it calls a ”pattern of serious failures,” and refers 14 DOJ employees for possible discipline.

If the second in charge, the one who just retired, knew about Fast and Furious you expect us to believe that Holder and the President didn't know. That would mean either Holder and Obama are lying or incompetent take your pic. |

The justice department investigating the head of the justice department?? I hold this in the same vein as police internal investigations....in other words, VERY suspect. |

That's not a fact that's your opinion, innocent people don't resign or retire when confronted with charges. |

Within minutes of the report's release, Justice announced rthat former acting ATF chief Kenneth Melson was retiring and another official, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Jason Weinstein, had resigned. Weinstein and Melson were among 14 people who "bore a share of responsibility for ATF's knowing failure in both these operations to interdict firearms illegally destined for Mexico, and for doing so without adequately taking into account the danger to public safety that flowed from this risky strategy," the report states. Weinstein failed to pass along key information about the flawed tactics being used in Fast and Furious, while Melson and other ATF officials didn't properly supervise the probe, the report states. The report referred them and another 12 officials in Washington and the ATF and U.S. attorney's offices in Phoenix to Justice officials to determine "whether discipline or other administrative action" was required. HUH! So you condemn Ronald Reagan for the Guns for hostages disaster??? That wasn't just a program gone wrong... IT WAS ILLEGAL AND AN IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE!!! US traitor Oliver North was just an "UNDERLING"... Right Shadow??? Since Fast n Furious was a George Worst Bush mission... IS IT BUSH'S FAULT? You seem to state so in your post! When I was in the Marines major operations came down from above, but the commander in the field, whether he was a Major or a corporal, was responsible for carrying out that mission. Fast n Furious appears to be a Bush mission with good intentions that failed to produce and was poorly managed. |

Reagan knew what was happening with arms being sold, Bush administration saw flaws in the gun walking program and discontinued the program. There wasn't enough evidence to tie Reagan to the scandal. Ever heard the phrase from the movie Independence Day plausable deniability, don't leave anything in writing that could tie you to something illegal, or hide the evidence with executive protection. Nixon tried that too but the truth finally came out. |

Shadow, I was just following your post:

I guess Shadow considers one set of rules for Democrats that don't apply for Republicans. |

If the evidence is proves them to be guilty either a Dem or Rep should be subject to the laws of the land. If the courts force the administration to release the e-mails protected by executive order then they should be punished. |
