First all my weapons are locked up. Second all my kids are grown and have their own families to worry about. Third it's not only the doctors who will have access to this information. With all the computer hacking a  burglar would be able to find out who can defend themselves and who can't.

I'm glad that your guns are locked up... especially since you have young grand kids.
In my case, the Dr never wrote anything in my file.  Just checked a box saying that he had discussed it
with me.

See? Paranoia.

He didn't need to know... he was only trying to prevent a needless tragedy.  I could have said "none of
your business" or not answered the question at all.
I'm not threatened by a doctor asking me a question.

People who should know better are leaving guns in the reach of kids.  If my doctor saved the
life of one child by asking a question, then I am all for asking the question.

If 2nd amendment paranoia rules your life you can always refuse to answer or change doctors
to another doctor less interested in saving lives.

What weight of what regulation.  A doctor asked a question.  The only weight problem is mine.

What weight of what regulation.  A doctor asked a question.  The only weight problem is mine.

the weight of a government regulation that would require the MD to 'at least' ask if you have a fire
arm in your home....this will go into your record(I know it because I see this)....

so when you show up with injuries it was previously documented,,,,oh, and I know you're going to say 'at least'
he/she/they tried....

TRIED WHAT?

health department regulations have laws with teeth behind them....

just like in the ER a woman is asked if she fears her sig-other....it's a mandated regulation to ask
a child can be interviewed because it's a mandated regulation....

I get that you just ABSOLUTELY love big daddy....

but not everyone is made from your cookie cutter unicorn world.....I'm glad you have MADE ONE FOR YOURSELF...
unless of course you'd like to give up that accomplishment to big daddy of course.......

the spirit of survival is INDIVIDUAL....

that guy that tried to set himself on fire and was saved.....I'm happy the 1st responder feels good that he saved
the guy...but saved to what? to live like what? he was trying to ABORT HIMSELF and he was interrupted....

so when the doc asks all those questions as if they are your clergy/god/conscience/law/commander etc...go
ahead and answer it......

BUT REMEMBER ONE THING....you are old and your EMR will be short....your grandkids EVERY single fart/slap/admission
will follow them for THE REST OF THEIR LIVES....much like a rap sheet....

think not that ockham's razor doesn't swing both ways.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I would keep it simple and just say 'NO'.

Same thing I say when the doc asks if I still smoke....I keep it simple and just say 'NO'!

Bumble lol. I had to see a pulmonologist this year. He asked if I smoked I said yes. He said you know its bad for you, I said yes.  I got the bill in the mail, got the appointment charge and a charge of $25.00 for smoking cessation
consultation

Also I have been asked if there were guns in my home a few times by doctors. I'm suprised everyone here hasn't been asked ? !

Back then I'd just say yes, now I know it's none of their business.

Anyways for the non believers here's a common medical questionairre for new patients  http://www.e-medtools.com/HCC_Questions.html

If you go to the docs for a hang nail and you say you smoke, they blame the hang nail on smoking and get the long speech! I learned about 5 years ago to tell them that I quit. Now they believe that I did and they treat my 'medical problems' like I'm a normal human being! OMG!

I have NEVER been asked if I own a gun.....but like I said.....I'd keep it simple and say 'NO'!!!

Remember........even a fish wouldn't get caught if it kept it's mouth shut!!!!!

You can tell your Dr what ever you want to tell him... but have you ever sat down next to a smoker???
Unless your doctor has a serious head cold, there is no disguising tobacco stink.

Again, never in my life have I ever had a doctor ask me that, and I've been to quite a few, in several different cities, and countries.

Then again, I decided years ago, that going to Schenectady for medical care was the worst idea that anyone could ever have.

Actually, unless you're in the market for used Walmart furniture, there's no reason to go there at all, though I do admit, I give theater tickets as presents on occasion.

one does not have to be a smoker to smell like that?

I've been to many concerts and had 'the smell'.....there is nothing to disguise because the docs are already
shrouded in mystery....why? because THEY AREN'T GODS/CLERGY/POLICE/YOUR CONSCIENCE ETC ETC....

sure they have a lot of education/info in their head but it certainly isn't 'all knowing'.....

As my grandfather said as they took him to the hospital "If you are taking me to- a doctor then-a I am-a gonna die-a becaus-a doctors keel-a you."

And he was right.

He died a few days short of 99 after they insisted he go to the hospital- meeting a doctor for the first time in his life was the end of him. They obviously killed him.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
