Comparisons to the 1929 Great Depression & what America is experiencing now boggles my mind.  Both depressions were greed driven  Politicians, Republican & Democrat enabled the current depression.

In '1929' trucks drove through streets throwing bread to people.  Toys were thrown from trucks so children might have a gift for Christmas.  People went for days without food.  Many had to take jobs out of town or go to CCC Camps.  People died from privation.  Today the people suffering have plastic cards that provide food, housing & medical care.  The homes of many of the poor have entertainment centers.  Many of today's 'victims' got themselves into debt by living beyond their means.  Politicians compelling lending institutions to lend money to the unqualified made the 'victims' what they are.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal did not bring US out of the depression, he delayed the final collapse.  WWII started in the nick of time.  Had war production not been invoked, the New Deal was about to implode.  No government program can sustain an economy.  President Obama's shovel ready new deal is a failure.  Other than vote buying by giving powerful unions a leg up, it has accomplished nada.

America needs a big war to get US out of our current soft depression.  It is important we win the war or the cure will kill US.

I grew up in the shadow of the Great Depression.  It was the stories of poverty & suffering that made me prudent & helped me develop a work ethic.  'No work, no eat.'  Today's young say, take care of me, take care of me, not work  & save, work & save.  The PHD, MS & BS factories have given the young false expectations & debt.  The tax payer is expected to sustain the debt.

In the 1930's in places like Troy, NY workers abused by employers & seduced by unions.  The workers were confronted with Communism.  With one notable exception, Schenectady, NY, most saw the folly, brutality, Godlessness of Communism.  Today the 'well fed', over educated, unemployed, are easily seduced  by the lure of the social progressive.  The point men for socialism & communism.   Truly the previous generation was the "greatest generation" in so many ways.  The blood is running thin, what we have today are weak complainers looking for a quick fix.  An influx of people (illegal's) who do not share our values nor appreciate our institutions (other than our wealth) are foot soldiers in a new war.  In this war it is the Red opposing the Red, White & Blue.  The Reds always have their "eye on the prize".  The prize is America.

The only thing great about the current depression are the great self deceptions & lies.

Of course it begs the question of 'What's a Gret Depression?'

Always felt this current climate was a depression of a sort.   Trouble is if it was/is will never be acknowledged until long after it's over.   Reason being so as not to derail the anemic recovery with additional realistic/ neg. info. which in turn would be an additional drag on the economy.   Don't use the "D" word.   It's all in the psychology/perception.

we dont have a depression....we have a lot of land with alot of folks with alot of time on their hands....

time to start planting/breeding/harvesting/slaughtering

new school of 'feed myself'

there's a commercial on TV for it.....it's a government assist program

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
