Police say at least four people were shot outside the Empire State Building Friday morning -- and as many as 10 taken to area hospitals -- and the gunman is dead.
A law-enforcement official said the shooting did not appear to be terror-related, and may have been the actions of a disgruntled employee who may work inside the building.
It wasn't immediately clear if the gunman's wound was self-inflicted or if the suspect was shot by police.
Some of those taken to hospital may have been injured in a stampede after the gunfire erupted, sources said.
Authorities said emergency personnel received a call about the shooting at Fifth Avenue and 34th Street just after 9 a.m. and that units were on the scene within minutes. The FBI is also on the scene
