Oh yeah I forgot this is Chicago where some of the strictest gun control laws are in place, hows that working for them. I guess its not news if they can't spin these incidents to push for stronger gun regulations, if anything it seems as if this is being hidden to hide the failures of such strong gun laws.

Twenty people were shot, three fatally, across the city Friday night and Saturday morning.

The weekend's violence started about 6:20 p.m. Friday when two men sitting in the back seat of an Oldsmobile were shot in the 500 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood by someone who walked up to the vehicle, police said.

One victim, 22, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 7 p.m., and the other, 18, was shot in the upper back and was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospitalof Cook County, officials said. The dead man, Richard Johnson, lived in the 1600 block of Plum Street in Aurora, a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Another homicide happened about 12:15 a.m. in the 11500 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood. Two men were shot and one didn't survive. Police said an 18-year-old was found dead with a gun in his hand and a second man, 25, was dropped off at Roseland Hospital with gunshot wounds to the leg. The 18-year-old affiliates with a gang but it's not clear if he fired his gun before he was struck, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the dead man as Derrick L. Baker, of the 11600 block of South Yale Avenue.

A teen girl was shot in the head in 2100 block of West 35th Street in the McKinley Park neighborhood about 5:05 a.m., Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. She was inside a vehicle with at least one other person when someone walked up and opened fire, he said.

Taylor Diorio, 17, of the 10800 block of Major Avenue in Chicago Ridge, was pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She had been taken to the hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, and it appears she was the only one wounded in that attack.

Two men and a 17-year-old boy were wounded about 3:30 a.m. in an attack in the 6900 block of South Bishop Street in the West Englewood neighborhood, News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. The teen is in good condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center with a wounded leg. A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm and shoulder and is at Stroger Hospital and a 23-year-old man shot in the neck, arm and chest is in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

A shooting about 1:40 a.m. near the intersection of Kedzie and Montrose avenues in the Albany Park neighborhood left a 26-year-old man in critical condition. A 21-year-old was also wounded in the attack and the pair turned up at Swedish Covenant Hospital about a mile and a half away. The 26-year-old is now in critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds and the younger man, shot in the leg, is in good condition at Swedish Covenant Hospital.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg about 1:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of North Monticello Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood and is in good condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

An 18-year-old man is in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, police said. He was wounded in an attack about 12:50 a.m. in the 2800 block of West 36th Street in the Brighton Park neighborhood but police weren't able to provide details other than to say he was shot outside.

A 17-year-old was shot in the foot about 12:45 a.m. and is in good condition at Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital. He was in the 2800 block of North Mason Avenue in the Belmont Central neighborhood when he was shot.

Two 18-year-old men were shot about 11:30 p.m. in the 100 block of North Pine Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood, police said. One was shot in the buttocks and taken to Loyola University Medical Center and the other was shot in the hand and is in good condition at West Suburban Hospital, police said.

A boy in his late teens was shot in the shoulder about 11 p.m. in the 2100 block of West Randolph Street in the West Town neighborhood, police said. Details about that shooting weren't immediately available.

About 10 p.m. a 21-year-old man was shot in the 8700 block of South Saginaw Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood. He was shot in the back and grazed in the head and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Gaines said. Police said he was sitting on a porch when he was shot. The man, who police said doesn't have a gang affiliation or criminal record, told police a large group gathered in the street and someone on the corner opened fire a short time later, hitting him.

About 9:50 p.m. a male was shot in the 9200 block of South University Parkway in the Burnside neighborhood. He was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital, Gaines said. Police said the man was shot five times by a man who approached with two others and opened fire. Responding officers found a 30-round magazine, but no weapon, north of the crime scene. The man shot, who identifies with a local gang, is expected to survive.

Two women were shot about 8:20 p.m. in the 4500 block of South Lavergne Avenue in the LeClaire Courts neighborhood, just south of Interstate 55 and west of Cicero Avenue. A 19-year-old and 35-year-old were each shot in the leg and both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Gaines said. The two women may have been caught between mutual combatants. At least one person stepped out of a gangway and shot at least 10 times, hitting the two, and police found a bullet from a different gun near where the women were standing when shot, police said. No weapons were recovered at the scene.

Again I know I say this often but its the person not the gun.

The gun laws for law abiding citizens will be so strict one day that only the criminals will have guns.

Were any of these shootings white on black?  If not then it doesn't have political value hence no need to be reported.

They should reissue the gun restrictions with a large warning stating that we really mean it, this time!

All persons living in Chicago and denied a concealed weapons permit should sue the city for endangering them, by making them be unarmed in a war zone.

Interesting that Henry chooses Chicago for his GUN DEATH post.  I wonder why Chicago???

Chicago does have a large number of gun murders...  it's rate is 11.6 compared to other cities like
Miami 23.7 or Detroit 35.9 or even Newark 25.4.
Chicago like many large cities has more than it's share of of murders, but Chicago is far from the worst.
