Cicero and Henry can pay the maximum 1st time offender fine of $50 for the privilege of going through the
windshield if in an accident.  I'll just be one of those who actually believes in seat belts and thinks that
they are a good idea.
On a side note:
Freedom lovers who want to skid down the highway on their helmet less head or fly through the air with
a broken neck after exiting their windshield... should be forced to pay a "finders fee" that will be paid
to any EMT (or undertaker) who is unnecessarily obliged to find their body, pick up the pieces and
stuff the parts in a body bag.
The ability for you to be FREE, should not oblige others to pay for your freedom finding your body parts.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

I always wear my seatbelt, not because of laws but because of safety. Now if someone wants to take the chance and not wear it that should be up to them, its their life they're playing with not mine. Laws don't fix stupidity, if it did we wouldn't have drunk drivers on the road. On a side note why is it illegal to have tinted windows but its ok for the cops to have blacked out windows on their cruisers, are they above the law.

Therefore, your beliefs would demand that you immediately cease driving altogether, since it would impose a burden on society if you have an accident.

You actually explain it perfectly, just don't know that you are explaining it.  Survival of the Fittest.  If they don't wear a helmet and are idiots out on the road and do something, then they only cause harm to themselves.  If they do wear a helmet, they're protected, and go out and do it again, this time in traffic, taking out your (or someone elses) loved ones.  Let them have their fun...once.  Maybe they'll smarten up, or they won't have the chance.

Stupid is self correcting.

Nanny laws attempt to keep the stupid around, upsetting the balance of nature.

It's worth paying for the cost of an ambulance to deal with suicidal people that otherwise may go berserk and kill others in the future.

Then for every EMT call that is responded to, there should be an accompanying law to prevent the behavior that caused the medical condition that required the EMT to respond.  That makes sense.

BTW, if you talk to EMT's, they aren't "obliged" to respond to the injured, most become EMT’s because they get satisfaction from helping people.  EMT's don't go around lobbying for more laws to prevent the injuries or illnesses they respond to. That's what totalitarian liberals like you do because you get satisfaction out of controlling every aspect of a person's life.

If the idiots learned their lesson, it might be worth while... but for some of them... there is no real
practice reason to protect a brain that functions at the Neanderthals level before their injury.
When they scrape them up off the highway, they take up valuable health care dollars super gluing their body
parts back on.

Motorcycle and bicycle helmet use laws
August 2012

The history of motorcycle helmet laws in the United States is characterized by change. In 1967, to increase motorcycle helmet use, the federal government required the states to enact helmet use laws in order to qualify for certain federal safety programs and highway construction funds.

If they slowed down the pathetic author of Obamacare that steals $716 BILLION from Medicare then they have done America a great service. The worst most corrupt President in American history.

I wonder if this story is true... or just more Rabid Right Wing BS???

Lets Check Politifact.org:

Checking the facts on the $700 billion Medicare 'cut':
The RIGHT says:
Says Barack Obama "robbed Medicare (of) $716 billion to pay for ... Obamacare."
Politifact says:

HUH!  THE GOP LIED!
The LEFT says:
Says Paul Ryan's budget relies on the same $700 billion in savings from Medicare
that Mitt Romney and other Republicans have been attacking Democrats about.

Politifact says:

IMAGINE THAT!  THE RIGHT IS LYING... AND THE LEFT IS TELLING THE TRUTH.
(as usual)

No, they aren't affected...Citizens are now FREE to choose whether or not to wear their seatbelt...Repealing the seatbelt law does't make it illegal to wear a seatbelt.  The only entity affected by repealing the seatbelt law is the government that collects revenue enforcing this victimless arbitrary law.

it's a paradox that we allow the government to pass laws that pretend to be for 'the good of'....when folks take their
choices into their own hands, albeit good vs bad, choice they tend to THINK things through....

making laws removes such exercise which would equate to 'soft grey matter' and the saying "they need to do something"

who the 'F' is 'they'???????

I would be OK with a separate auto insurance policy for those who don't want to use seat belts or helmets.
We could call it the "Crash Dummy Policy"!
They could pay the added expense of scraping their barely alive bodies off the pavement and bagging them
for the trip to the hospital.  It would also pay their extended hospital stay.
