You don't know? Down the drain. $10 MILLION in the red. $106 MILLION in hock. Tax receipts receipts in free fall. Sales taxes down Countywide. They can't pay the principle on their debt so the DEMS keep rolling it over. They have to establish a State Control Board or go bankrupt-there is no third option. Camden, NJ North. GE and a tax exempt Downtown surrounded by collapsing hulks.

Have to agree with Benny. The City is in such a blackhole, they have REFUSED time and time again to eliminate anything out of the budget and the State has to do what the City has never done...take a reality check of the dire, corrupt situation.

It's bankruptcy time folks...smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Even the Gazetto has finally awoken and demanding a State Control Board. Of it's coaxed in many North east cities BS. Schenectady is in a class of its own. 37 straight years of unqualified DEMS imploding the City Council. The "leaders" have chased out every small business, church and working class home owner. Between the insane DEM tax clowns and the idiot code enforcers its impossible to own property. Start cleaning out the mess on primary day. Dump Marion Poterfield.

Well, there aren't enough responsible adults who are mentally fit left in the city to comprise a majority to set things right. The bail out will come from above.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Hey Republicans, be careful about cheering for a Financial Control Board.  If they come in before the financial failure of the city, it will mitigate the failure of the Democrat leadership and provide political cover for the local democrats.  Republicans should be looking to take the political advantage of the failure of Democrat leadership.  The Democrat Party will use the State appointed Control Board as cover to blame the Board for making the politically difficult decision that must be made.  So when re-election comes around, they can avoid taking any blame for decisions the unelected board makes.

The Democrats must be FORCED to own up to their decisions and suffer the political consequences for their mismanagement.  Don't let an unelected, undemocratic state appointed board to provide political cover.

The Gazette isn't joining the growing chorus, it is suggesting a solution that will provide political cover for the growing disapproval of the Democrat Party.

If that mattered, there are not enough capable and intelligent adults left in the city who aren't dependent on a handout to vote the democraps out.

You have:
1) minorities who actually believe they will be "in chains" because the overseer told them so if they vote anything but democrap
2) poor white trash who go on welfare and buy tattoos and pit bull food with any excess dollar bills left over after buying malt liquor
3) confused old Italian seniors who think FDR is president and their dead husbands told them in 1962 to 'always vote democrap because they are for the little guy'
4) a handful of uber-educated greenies who either teach at Union College or pubic school who would nonetheless never vote for a Republican under any circumstance because they believe in "marriage equality"
5) State workers who are in a union who are under orders to vote for "the union-backed candidate"

This compromises between 51-70% of the electorate during a regular election, so with only about 35% of the voters being home-owners who pay taxes now, you really have little chance to ever win any seats as anything but democraps. No decent people will run as democraps because as bad as the GOP is on the worst day, the dempocraps are purely bought and paid for by the unions, the welfarites, and the crony capitalists that who receive the spoils here.

So good luck, Schitneckky and rest in peace.

EXACTLY! The voters had a clear choice between a brilliant administrator and a life long DEM hack. Just enough idiots were tricked into voting for the DEM hack. False charges, phony push polls, lies about job creation. Now the chickens have come home to roost. There is no one else left to blame. The DEMS are fiscally incompetent with no plans to do anything. Except rape the oppressed taxpayers. These idiots can't even afford to knock down abandoned shells nor stop out of State pit bulls from relocated her. Keep the DEM implosion going!

This is a great list to save the County. Of course nothing will happen. The DEM morons are too busy cheering about a festa, unused bike path or taxpayer funded fireworks show. Wait until McCheese throws 700 families onto the street. Then maybe some of the lame brains will get off the ether.

Where is the Gazetto article suggesting the State Control Board take over Schenectady?  This thread received over 500 views in 2 days without an article even being posted.  Looks like it got the attention of some people.  I wonder who?

That is because most of the intelligent folks fled the city and the few intelligent ones left are 'stuck' here because they can't sell their homes due to the high taxes and devalued homes and the historically high crime rate and a substandard school system.

So the liberal nut jobs can praise the fact that they have created and are now governing a 'substandard'/'subcultured'/illiterate/uneducated society! GOOD JOB!!!

Also called DEM renaissance! You no wanna buy property in Schenectady? The worst schools, pit bulls running amok, broken streets, tax exempt Downtown, no PILOT Proctor's and a DEM run machine City Hall. Deficit? What deficit? Even the former cheer leading Gazetto has had enough of the DEM implosion.
