It is not enough to support them just because they have proposed something.  But the fact remains that 3 1/2 years into his presidency, the incumbent president and his supporters in Congress are still blaming his predecessor but refusing to actually come up with a viable solution.   No budget passed in over 3 years.  No plan to cut the deficit.  No accountability for the billions spent on the bailouts and stimulus.  Lots of talk about borrow billions more on another stimulus.  It is my opinion that we can't afford another 4 years of inaction on the real problems and just throwing billions of dollars down the hole on ideas that haven't worked.

As for taxes,  I support support keeping the Bush era tax cuts --- it doesn't make sense to raise taxes in a sluggish economy --- while beginning bi-partisan work on real tax reform.  Ultimately, I think we should have a flat tax without any loopholes or gimmicks.

Furthermore, real tax reform must be coupled with real budget reform which would include a balanced budget amendment --- and once and for all dealing with the structural issues within the federal budget that keep it unbalanced.

The Republican Party Line. Exactly.

Ryan is best known for his proposed budget, which would dramatically reform Medicare. In a June 2011 CNN poll,
~ 58 percent opposed Ryan’s plans for Medicare
~ with only 35 percent in support—
~and a tremendous 74 percent of seniors opposed.

That same month, a Pew Research Center survey found that Americans disliked Ryan’s plan to change
~Medicare into a voucher system by a margin of 41-36;
~ and for adults over 50, the margin was 51-29.

Meanwhile, in an April 2011 CBS News/New York Times poll, 61 percent of those surveyed felt Medicare was
worth the costs.

Gallup found that the public’s response to Ryan’s selection was one of the worst in the recent
history of vice-presidential nominations: 39 percent said Ryan was an excellent or pretty good selection,
while 42 percent felt he was an only fair or poor selection.

It is very easy for certain folks in the White House, in Congress, in the media and elsewhere to criticize Congressman Ryan's budget proposal when those same folks have NOT put any alternative proposals on the table.  While they demonize Ryan, federal spending continues to grow unchecked, the deficit continues to balloon and the national debt reaches higher and higher levels.  True leadership is being willing to lay out a course of action - despite the arrows of criticism lobbed by one's critics and opponents.

Candidate Obama said in 2008 that he had a plan to cut the national debt in half in 4 years.  He was elected and in the 3 1/2 years since, we have never heard a word about this plan and, instead, have seen the national debt double.  Now we hear that we may need to grow the debt more with another stimulus (a.k.a. spending spree designed to enrich those politically connected to Mr. Obama) to get the economy moving again.

We can't afford to continue on this path.  And, I for one won't vote to continue down this path towards more spending and higher debts.

I am looking at the performance of President Obama NOT President Bush.  Obama is the one seeking reelection and not President Bush.   Obama is the one who promised to cut the national debt in half in 4 years and not only didn't deliver ---- he massively increased the national debt.

He broke his promise --- so IMHO, he doesn't deserve another 4 years in office.

President George Worst Bush is very pertinent to this issue...

Policy from the Romney/Ryan candidates promise that if elected, we will start the George Worst Bush
third term.
~Tax cut for the rich on the backs of the poor and middle class.
~Increase military spending
~Gut medicare, and give Americans a worthless voucher
~End Social Security and give Americans a worthless 401K
~End Planned Parenthood
~Repeal Roe V Wade
~Repeal Romney care...OOPS I mean repeal Obamacare.

If you liked G Worst Bush, You'll love Romney/Ryan

Is it possible this plan or plan to develop a plan along with other needed actions was derailed by the economy and bailouts? Can we dconsider that promises are made with good intentions and not always able to be carried out, for many reasons. If Obama were the only one to make promises he didn't keep that would be one thing...but to label him for that, when I do not recall one president in my voting lifetime that kept all his promises. I specifically remember Hillary's promise when campaigning that she PROMISED to create 500k more jobs for NY. When she was running for Pres, she was asked about that promise and said "well we didn't win", referring to the Republicans winning congress and George becoming Pres., so that is why she couldn't keep her promise to crete jobs....BULLCRAP!!! Campaign promises cannot be taken seriously....they promise the world with the only goal being to win the office.

In February 2007as Candidate Obama was running for office... G Worst Bush was busy driving the
country over an economic cliff.  It was clear that the Bush Economic Meltdown was begun, but
the depth of the damage done in the Bush years was yet to be discovered.
All Candidates from both parties were making assumptions that George Worst Bush was actually
a competent president... all were wrong.
The worst economic crash happened between the time Obama announced his candidacy and the
time he won the presidency.

Personally, I'd be happy if Obama managed to get the country back to where it was before
G Worst Bush killed the economy. He still has 4 1/3 years to accomplish that task.
