First - I believe that elections do matter. Second - the message in the video assumes that in the sea of all the politicians, who according to the video only have the worst of intentions and are co-conspirators in some nefarious scheme, that only Ron Paul stands alone as the pure, full of only good and honorable intentions and is the cowboy with the white hat, knight in shining armor or - quite possibly - the Messiah who will save us all. Maybe the Ron Paul supporters are naive enough or - dare I say - brain-washed enough to believe that. Bottomline - I don't believe any individual elected to public office is 100% pure evil or 100% pure good. Each is human with strengths, weakness, a good side and a bad side, susceptible to good intentions and bad intentions, etc. The real question is which of those many individuals running for public office have the skill set, knowledge/experience, vision etc. to best serve in the particular office at this time.
I don't often agree with DVOR, but I do on much of this post.
Most politicians, like most people are a mixture of good and bad... and most try to do the best they can. IMO, the last really honest US President was Jimmy Carter. He may not have been the best of Presidents, but he was the most honest and sincere. Most are trying to do the right thing in the context of a political system that leaves them constantly making choices between what is right and what is necessary. I also agree that for some reason, Ron Paul supporters look at him as the Messiah, who's every word is sacred. Paul is a Republican politician... just like the rest, but according to RP groupies, he is much more than that. I think they project their hopes into his campaign with out regard to his failures and weaknesses.

I would add that often elected officials have to make the choice between on one side what he/she would prefer to do/what is necessary and on the other side what is POSSIBLE TO DO. A president must get a majority of members in the House and Senate to agree to legislation or convince the leader(s) of foreign nation(s) to agree (when it comes to foreign policy).
That same type of dynamic plays out at the state and local level just.
Often times, the best that an elected official whether its in an executive or legislative position can hope to accomplish is to "get the ball moving" or "keep the ball moving" in a positive direction. Sometimes, the political situation requires that one has to settle for a "half a loaf" and hope that down the road the rest can be achieved.
Every president or person who holds elected office has his/her strengths and weaknesses. You mentioned Jimmy Carter - his strength was that he was a very intelligent engineer by training who liked to be hands on solving the problems .... that strength also proved to be a weakness because he often tended to micromanage everything and had a difficult time delegating tasks and trusting his staff/cabinet/subordinates. Interestingly, his successor - Ronald Reagan - was very comfortable delegating and trusting his staff/cabinet/subordinates .. and some would argue maybe too comfortable and too trusting to the point that we ended up with situations like the Iran-Contra Affair.
Too bring it back to the original topic - What are Paul Ryan's strengths and weaknesses as a potential Vice President (and possibly President if necessary) ? What does his selection as a running mate say about Mitt Romney as a potential President? Equal time and fairness requires that we ask the same questions about Barack Obama and Joe Biden and any of the other ACTUAL candidates ( I don't believe Ron Paul will actually be on the ballot so continuing to talk about him is pointless).

SAVAGE BLASTS RYAN PICK: 'TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE' 'Romney insiders detest conservatives and are trying to appease this core base' Published: 20 hours ago by DREW ZAHNE
One of the nation’s top radio hosts has fired off some hot criticism of presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s choice to select Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., as his vice presidential running mate.
“This is the end of the Romney campaign,” says Michael Savage. “As good a man as he is, Ryan will be portrayed by the Marxists as another rich white male who wants to ruin the environment, destroy Medicaid and Social Security and give tax breaks to the very rich. It’s all over.
“The Romney schmucks are so out of touch with reality they do not see how they are being portrayed and perceived both by the servile press and the ignorant masses,” the radio host states on his website. “The Romney insiders detest conservatives and are trying to appease this core base with Ryan. Too little, too late.”
Assuming by “Marxists” Savage is referring to some within Barack Obama’s circle of allies, the radio host’s prediction of response to Ryan has already proven spot on.
A support letter sent this morning by Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina asserted, “Congressman Paul Ryan is best known as the author of a budget so radical The New York Times called it ‘the most extreme budget plan passed by a House of Congress in modern times.’ With Mitt Romney’s support, Ryan would end Medicare as we know it and slash the investments we need to keep our economy growing – all while cutting taxes for those at the very top.”
In comments to the press, Messina continued the barrage: “Ryan, like Romney, proposed an additional $250,000 tax cut for millionaires and deep cuts in education from Head Start to college aid. His plan also would end Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher system, shifting thousands of dollars in health care costs to seniors.”........................>>>>..........................>>>>....................http://www.wnd.com/2012/08/savage-blasts-ryan-pick-too-little-too-late/
Unfortunately, people like Michael Savage (and you can insert the names of tv and radio personalities from BOTH the Left and the Right here ) are looked to as national opinion-makers and somehow as experts just because they have a microphone in front of them.
I don't take these "radio/tv celebrity opinion-makers" from either the left or the right seriously at all ..if at all.

Not the case at all, yes we support his message and his voting record, however if he failed to live up to that we would not back him. On the other hand you have Obama supporters who wished for change, which I don't fault them for, continue to back the person who didn't change nothing, when called out on this the excuses start rolling in. At least Paul supporters, Libertarians, Constitutionalist won't sell out to the 2 party chirade and just blindly back whoever gets the parties nomination, yes we stand for something unlike you 2

EXACTLY!!! It is all about 'the message'. Paul supporters are not supporting him because he his black, white, rich, poor, rep or dem.........IT'S THE MESSAGE.......IT'S THE IDEOLOGY!!! It is funny how some folks can't seem to wrap their 'two party corrupt system' brain around that!!

They don't want to take responsibility, instead they wish for others to do their thinking and use their power to remove any responsibility they should have. I guess it's easier to milk off others and have nothing to worry about, hey let someone else deal with it

Obama didn't change Nothing??? Excuses???
President Barack Obama has done what half a dozen other presidents wanted to do but couldn't make it happen. President Barack Obama has given the American people HEALTH CARE FOR ALL. Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson didn't get it done... In his 1974 State of the Union address, President Richard M. Nixon called for comprehensive health insurance... Nixon failed. Bill Clinton almost had a health care deal, that was killed at the last minute by Republican opposition.
Health Care Reform will be remembered as a huge accomplishment in American political history.

Of course we all know that if Paul Ryan had his way, Social Security would be ended tomorrow, replaced by the classic... do with out "Voucher plan".
Interesting that a man who probably owes his college education to Social Security... who took full advantage of Social Security, now wants to end that benefit for every one else.
Ryan was raised by his mother after his father died when he was just 16. He saved the Social Security survivor’s benefits he received to help put himself through college.
He's just your typical Conservative... I GOT MINE... SCREW EVERY ONE ELSE!

LMAO I'm not even going to go here again, his campaign lies and failures in office are a laughing stock, you trying to sugar coat Obamacare and what it does isn't going to change that.

"Romney's aides have stressed publicly in the 24 hours since Romney electrified conservatives with his choice that the pick was the governor's alone. They have been less forthcoming on the flip side: That much of his staff opposed the choice for the same reason that many pundits considered it unlikely -- that Ryan's appealingly wonky public image and a personality Romney finds copasetic will matter far less than two different budget plans whose details the campaign now effectively owns."
Said one top Republican: "Everybody was against [Ryan] to start with only Romney for."

The conservative base is on fire after Mitt Romney’s announcement of Paul Ryan as his running mate. Andrea Saul, advisor to Romney, tweeted this morning that the Romney campaign raised $3.5 million online in the 24 hours after the announcement.
This is the most powerful crystallizing moment the Romney campaign has had since the Supreme Court’s ObamaCare decision; Romney raised $4.2 million within 24 hours of that decision.
The palpable excitement over Ryan’s selection contrasts sharply with Barack Obama’s announcement of Joe Biden 2008. In August of 2008, when Obama picked Biden, contributions to the Obama campaign actually decreased from the previous month.
