I stopped at Villa Italia on Monday morning for lunch and had a fabulous pistacho gelato. The young ladies working there were exceptionally pleasant and provided great customer service.
Interesting that you don't actually have to go to work, and can stay home and go out to eat and post on the internet in the middle of the day.
At the same time, looking at your signature, I find it quite interesting...

You do realize that Mr. Santabarbara would be pushing for regulations against Chic-Fil-A if they were here in Schenectady County, right? I mean, he was the one wanting you to know how fattening their food is with additional governmental regulations, but I guess he's the better choice.

Apparently, you are jealous that some folks can work from their homes.
Yes, Mr. Santabarbara is the better choice and their is no evidence that he would be pushing for regulations against Chick-Fil-A. As for the county legislature's passing a requirement that eating establishments post nutritional information --- I believe that was a good thing to do EXCEPT that it only applied to chain restaurants. I believe EVERY restaurant should post nutritional information for their patrons to be able to review and make healthy food choices.

That's not the governments job, it is the responsibility of the person to make those decisions as to what is good for them. If you go to McDonalds and order a big mac and fries with a large soda common sense is it is not healthy for you, do you really need the government to tell you that?

The government is NOT making the decisions. The restaurants are just being asked to post the nutritional information so that the COSTUMER can make a more informed decision.
Many people order a salad when they are dining out -- thinking it is healthier than a Big Mac. But they are wrong. But many salads are actually UNHEALTHIER than a Big Mac -- some that have higher salt and fat and calories than a Big Mac -- Greek salad, chicken salad, tuna salad and egg salad served at many diners and restaurants. Anti-Pasto served at many Italian restaurants is loaded with salt, fat and calories. Taco Slad served at Mexican eateries -- unhealthier than a Big Mac. Asian Grilled Chicken Salad, Cobb Salad, Crispy Buffalo Chicken Salad and Southwest Fiesta Salad served at a number of national chains -- unhealthier than a Big Mac.
The consumer needs to actually see the nutritional information in order to make an informed and healthy decision.
So -- yes, I think the County Legislature was correct to order chain restaurants to post nutritional information for all of its menu items. But I think that the County Legislature was DEAD WRONG for not requiring ALL restaurants to post nutritional information.

Yeah that's what we need more regulations against businesses, how dare we make the public not take responsibility for themselves

Obviously you don't know anything about nutrition if you need a law to have businesses post information that people who eat healthy already know. We don't need a law to tell businesses to post information, for example, list the sodium info on the burgers and fries that are served with ketchup because those of us who eat healthy already know that ketchup is high in sodium. And those of us who eat healthy know our limitations and we know when we can treat ourselves to burgers and fries served with ketchup on it. The only thing we intelligent consumers would appreciate is to be offered the choices of lower fat or low sodium when our order is taken, or to just know that we can request it.
We as consumers have the intelligence to learn nutrition stuff without the government doing it for us, and we who have the intelligence also don't have waistlines wider than our chests

Requiring that restaurants post nutritional information is NOT a regulation against business -- anymore than requiring restaurants to have bathrooms and or requiring kitchen employees to wash their hands after goint to the toilet could be considered a regulation against business.

So tell us, JUST EXACTLY WHAT DOES ANY OF YOUR POSTING IN THIS THREAD HAVE TO DO WITH THE SUBJECT OF PARKING METERS AND PARKING POLICE???? Look in the mirror again before you talk about who post what and how....I've tried, but you still insist on being a jerk about it and then point fingers at others.

I stated it already -- but if you insist on my repeating my opinion and clarifying it ---- open your wallet, pull out a quarter(s) and pay for the parking .... and quit bitching about the parking enforcement folks for doing their jobs.
Now -- back to the subject of gelato and fine pastries .....

And once agin your reading comprehension shows your stupidity....I in no way complained about the police or parking costs....go back and read the first post. It was an attempt to inform people of what was gong on. That would be good samaritan time, making sure people put the quarter int he meter and avoid a possible ticket. Now go ahead and twist my words again...you are pushing the limits and going to open the flood gates if you continue this stupidity. I thought maybe you had turned a corner to civility, but your old ways are shining through quite a bit lately....you really should be more careful.

Look at the double speak...The government isn't "asking" they are "ordering" restaurants to incure an additional cost by posting nutritional value. And you justify it because you think people are stupid? You would think the failing public school system could have at least managed to get basic nutritional knowledge. Restaurants should just have to post the government food pyramid that we've all been trained to follow. The food instructions that made people fat in the first place by making grains the bulk of the American diet. When the processed food industry can influence the government, they influence them in ways that make them money. How does the processed food industry continue to increase profits year after year? Make the consumer increase consumption. Stuff them full of carbs at a young age and watch them grow and eat, and eat, and eat.

I don't think people are stupid. People should be given the information that they need to make informed decisions. There is no way that any individual would know the nutritional content of EVERY menu item offered by EVERY restaurant in the world. There is absolutely nothing wrong with requiring every restaurant to post the nutritional information of its menu items.
Furthermore - if we use your ill-logic .. we should not have laws or ordinances requiring ANYTHING. Let people build their homes out of paper and heat them with an open flame fire -- if that is what they want to do.
