SCHENECTADY
Key to the City getting partners
New incentives offered to buyers
BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

Anyone who buys a house through the city’s Key to the City program will also now get free bus rides for a year.
The new incentive will be announced at noon Sunday at the Rose Garden to kick off the city’s sixth monthly open house. City and school officials attend the open houses to answer questions about living in Schenectady and occasionally announce new initiatives to encourage home ownership. The goal of the program is selling the city’s vacant houses to owner-occupants, not landlords.
At Sunday’s open house, HUD Field Office Director Jaime E. Forero will acknowledge the city’s efforts.
“HUD has no greater mission than improving people’s lives and strengthening neighborhoods, and Schenectady’s Key to the City Homes initiative accomplishes both,” Forero said in a news release announcing Sunday’s event.
“I applaud Mayor McCarthy and the city’s business, civic and educational leaders for working together to make the Dream of Homeownership possible for many hard-working Schenectady residents. No one can argue that homeownership builds a family’s net worth, while, at the same time, energizes a neighborhood.” CDTA officials will also announce the free bus program. Each Key to the City homeowner will get two unlimited use, 31-day passes per month for a year. They will be required to fi ll out a survey in advance on their busriding habits, and a second one at the end of the one-year program. CDTA wants to know whether the free bus passes change the way they travel. .........................>>>>..............................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01302&AppName=1

How funny is it that this is being held in one of the only areas of the City that VOLUNTEERS MAINTAIN!!!

That's right, don't walk these folks any further than the garden into Central Park where the City has done a bang up job of leaving grafitti, ignoring the pond and allowing filth all over the grounds. Don't go there...that's where your taxpayer money goes...not in a volunteer garden.

Maybe these bus passes should go to City employees who violate the residency laws.

Maybe if the City eliminated every free employee vehicle, CDTA could increase their business in the hundreds.

MORE THEFT FROM THE TAXPAYERS!!!!

HUD get's its money from our ever increasing taxes.   CDTA gets the VAST MAJORITY of it's budget from the federal, state, AND COUNTY governments!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, let's have a report of how many houses---that were part of this program--have sold, what the assessment value is, what the original asking price was, what the selling price is, what kind of down payment did the buyers have, or what and how much from taxpayer funded program did they get the the down payment from, how much are the taxpayers subsidizing the loan.   Taxpayers in the city have a birthright entitlement to know what will happen with their money if people default on the mortgage and the house ends up being sold for less than the taxpayer subsidized mortgage because the home values are plummeting and the taxes are increasing.

And of the buyers, how many were EXISTING Schenectady RENTERS, and how many came from outside of the city but within the county to buy a house, and home many (and from where) people came from outside of the county to buy a house IN the city.

Where are the detailed reports for the long time existing homeowner taxpayers in the city?   Where are the reports?

it's the only way to attract folks for those great $15/hour jobs that don't come close to supporting a family of 3 much less 4 with
divorces and child support......
