The Power To Tax Is the Power To Destroy by Peter Schiff
The Supreme Court decision is devastating for the economy and individual liberty. Apart from creating an all powerful federal government, changing substantially what it means to be an American, the law will send health care costs soaring, further undermining our economy. It will destroy jobs, impoverish millions, and lead to much higher inflation and lower living standards.
It will give Romney a club to use against Obama during the election. Obama will have a lot of explaining to do as he strongly stated during the debate to pass the bill that the individual mandate is not a tax. The Supreme Court just said it was.
In his majority opinion Justice Roberts specifically said the government does not have the authority, under the Commerce Clause, to compel Americans to buy a product. He then said it has unlimited power to tax people who do not buy products the government wants them to buy. This is a distinction without a difference. Based on this ruling, here are examples of what the government can now do:
Tax you for going to church. Tax you for not going to church. Tax you for protesting. Tax you for not protesting. Tax you for expressing a controversial opinion. Tax you for joining or not joining a particular organization. Tax you for writing something controversial. Tax you for speaking or writing critically of government. Basically, there is nothing the government can't do, so long as it does it as a tax.
The bottom line is that no one is paying a dime more in their taxes. The passage of Obamacare affected no one except the people who needed it.
Who cares about the debt. The only thing that matters is how much they take from you. If you pay the same now as you have been paying, who cares what they call the debt, trillions or gazillions, it don't mean a damn thing.
Unless someone's taxes got raised it is all just paranoid hyperbole.
The penalty for not getting mandated health care is less than $100.
I say if you don't want to pay it, fine, but when you get hit by a car and are bleeding to death, no one should come for you.

You just made an argument to keep the system the way it is. If debt and deficits don't matter, then why pass Obamacare? Just continue to borrow and print money to pay for the people showing up for medical treatment that have no money. Just debase the currency and make everybody equally poor by stealing people's savings and retirement through inflation.

people who get hit by cars without health insurance still get treated....
people who chronically make 'bad' choices as to their healthCARE and have chronic issues cost $$...choice choice choice...
that's why national health 'care' insurance is a joke....regulation of behavior has , no choice, but to exist.... to 'cut cost' of course. just ask Bloomberg......
anyone who agrees to that should move to NYC and have their diet regulated...(not that fortified food isn't an outcome of industrialization)
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
