Home sales will boost CDTA pay

Contract extension gives employees raises if economy improves

By Tim O'Brien
Published 11:45 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012

Employees at the Capital District Transportation Authority are hoping you will sell, buy or refinance a home.

CDTA workers agreed to a contract extension that will provide raises if the economy grows. Since CDTA receives some of its funding from the mortgage tax, home sales will affect whether bus drivers, maintenance workers and other employees see their income rise.

"They have the opportunity to get a raise," said Steven Green, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union local. "If CDTA gets the funding, we get it."

Guess that means that driver in Schenectady will see either no raise or a reduction in pay, yes?   Because houses are NOT selling in Schenectady city really are not selling    (of course, we have the McC mouthpiece, the cheerleader on this board, along with his imaginary friends who will state otherwise, yet not provide one documented piece of evidence that houses are selling well in the city)

Can't believe the TU printed this "news". No raises for Schenectady drivers-that's for sure under the DEM implosion squad. City home prices are in free fall because the incompetent Mayor and 6 DEM stooges who refuse to plan, budget or cut ANYTHING. How is the car fleet study going Denise Brucker? lol- Got abandoned property?

Another contract that appears to be setup responsibly but it isnt linked to a successful economy.  It is linked to transactions.  The mortgage tax could increase in a freefalling market as well if the number of houses sold increases.  If people sell their house at a loss in Schenectady to buy a home in Albany then they still win.  I am also assuming that this is for all the districts combined so with Global Founderies......

YUP..............I'm gonna go buy a property just so the CDTA can get a raise..........NOT!!!

In the private sector.........raises are determined by merit AND the economy. Not on taxpayer's money!!!
