I couldn't wait 4 years to see the Rotterdam landscape littered with plastic lawn signs.
LOL......... yeah considering no town offices are up for grabs this year it might be a bit disappointing for ya.........still I imagine we'll see our share of 'em................and just to clear again, although I find 'em repulsive, it is perfectly legal to place 'em on private property...............my objection is the hypocrisy of lawmakers placing 'em illegally............I'm not against free speech, I'm against the hypocrisy displayed by our so called leaders

C. No person shall place or erect a political sign on any property owned by the federal government, State of New York, the Town of Rotterdam, New York, or any other municipality, special Town water or sewer district or school district, including the paved and unpaved rights-of-way of roadways, located in the Town of Rotterdam, New York.
could be you people opened a can of worms.....and maybe this 4 year thing is already in the works.....and in my thoughts a dangerous move with the
people that are now the REGIME......things have got to change in this Town.....but not from bad to worse......can't imagine with this Board always the vote
would be 4 yes to 1 no and only one person speaking and trying to correct the wrong....too devious and too cunning is this REGIME but then again
the voters spoke....now they are paying dearly...no more voice....silence is golden....
That is Rotterdam leadership...Promising enough people with vowels at the end of their name, that the rules will not apply them if they are elected.
I hear ya................but speaking for myself as a world-class "idiot" I'm gonna make an attempt to hold their feet to fire on the sign issue..........wish me luck...

I'm pretty confident that you could rip every campaign sign out of the ground of the candidates that are not endorsd by the copservative party. The Rotterdam Cops will actually assist you.

just sayin'
Is it in the works? Haven't heard anything about that. As far as those that are in power, generally, when there's a change like this, it is effective with the next election, so if Supervisor Buffardi wants to serve a 4 year term, he'd have to get re-elected next year, not that it will be difficult for that to happen with some of the voters in this town, unless things change on the other side or people smarten up.

LOL.............should be interesting, 'cause I plan on calling the RPD to get a clarification on "tampering with political signs"...............I mean if a sign is placed illegally on town property is the removal of that sign considered tampering..................and if I simply uproot it and call the party or candidate to whom it belongs informing them what I did and I'm waiting at the location of the illegally placed sign for them to come and pick it up......is that considered tampering?...............just tryin' to define some parameters before I go full bore with this

The Town Board can only vote to put the issue on the ballot. The actual decision on whether to approve or reject a 4 year term proposal would be made by the voters.

AND.... there should b e a law that only ONE SIGN FOR EACH CANDIDATE in any one place......
a must......ridiculous of how many times this happened all over Town.....and in certain places....
As far as I'm concerned a candidate could have 100 signs in one place just as long as they're not illegally placed. I'm not against free speech, I'm against the hypocrisy that has lawmakers ignoring town code and illegally displaying political signs....................
there is a catch 22 to this issue as to how this will get resolved
the cops wont enforce local laws because they are listed in software called ecode 360 which lists them as town code not local law thus all codes are given to the town code enforcement offices - ie building inspectors in the dept of public works which is under new management - one of which is a cop appointment
it might be best if you went to the ultimate decision maker in town on the subject of signs(really anything in town government) - the town cluck(clerk)

Had to read that a few times to get it to sink in......................what you said is pretty much spelled out in the code which I've read ad nauseum so I understand that............and the code enforcement officers will be on my list of contacts (town board and supervisor, the offending partys committee, the candidate and any one else I can think of) once I run across an illegally placed sign..............now I'm pretty sure after I contact these folks I'm gonna get the cold shoulder and they'll stall getting them removed.....................I would simply undisplay them put them all in a neat pile and let 'em know where they are..........but here's the rub I need to find out if doing that is considered tampering which could cause me legal problems...........I think the code is purposely vague about how and who to report violations.......................town clerk huh
come on......if you do;t know who is running then don;t vote....you need 4 to 5 same candidate signs in one place????
how classy is that.....no wonder visitors to this area ask why.....only on Rotterdam......knock 'em dead with the same names.....e i o...
if you are so confident about your candidacy.....you don't need to be grandstanding.....and that's what everyone seems to want to see.....makes a
better government .........yeah right....that's hypocrocisy
Although I do agree somewhat I'm really not interested in changing the code, (I'll leave that to someone else) I'd just like to see what's there enforced....
what Sue is sayin in essence is that Diane Marco is running the Town.....just like a lot of people thought.....ambitious, great work ethics, knows all, sees all,
