2 California cities voters embrace pension cuts

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Voters in two major California cities overwhelmingly approved cuts to retirement benefits for city workers in what supporters said was a mandate that may lead to similar ballot initiatives in other states and cities that are struggling with mounting pension obligations.

Supporters had a simple message to voters in San Diego and San Jose: Pensions for city workers are unaffordable and more generous than many private companies offer, forcing libraries to slash hours and potholes to go unfilled.

"The public is frustrated," said San Diego Councilman Carl DeMaio, a Republican who staked his mayoral bid on the pension measure and advanced to a November runoff in Tuesday's election to lead the nation's eighth-largest city.

Cuomo's 2% tax cap was to appease the taxpayers and prolong the inevitable....These steps being taken in California will be spreading like wildfire across the country.  New Yorkers will soon realize that a 2% tax cap does nothing to address the root cause of our problems.  Capping the increases in tax revenue does not deal with the unsustainable spending.

Yeah, they just raid the sewer and water districts to steal coins from other piggy banks, ala' John Paolino!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

There is no "tax cap" in New York State.    Just watch when the tax BILL rise WAY MORE THAN the so called "cap."

The dem governor blabs about a cap people believe him, and DV is cheering him

And the "cap" is on the LEVY not the tax BILLs nor the "fees"

Just keep on the wild spending.   It's REALLY going to hit Schenectady city big time because the HUGE $5 million financial crisis is one thing, but what is going to be way far worse is that the financially struggling homeowners are going to be hit so very hard with the increased tax BILLS because the dems force the homeowners to pay the tax bills of the downtown millionaires as well.

.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
