Actually, that is a myth that most people believed the earth was flat before the Age of Discovery (Columbus, Magellan, et al).

And as stated by a number of posts - just because a majority believes something doesn't make it true.

I don't believe in DVOR

Religious topics just like political topics always end the same and with both sides wanting the same thing, control over the masses Atheists today are no better than the ones they bash because they also wish to push their beliefs unto others, why is it neither side can just live their lives without feeling the need to control others? I believe in God but I don't go around feeling the need to preach the gospel to everyone I meet, in the end hopefully I lived my life good enough to go where my beliefs say I could go

Henry you are wise beyond your years...................................I learned a long time ago that arguing debating religion and politics is at best an exercise in futility, so I stay away from those things. What I believe is what I believe and I have no need to try to convince others that what I believe is right...............I have friends who themselves were once friends but because of their beliefs are no longer friends with each other.....when either wishes to know how the other is doing they ask me.......that's a dirty shame..........

This may be your view, but it certainly isn't mine.  I want all religions  to be free to practice their
faith in our country... something the 1st amendment was supposed to provide.

I don't want to control whether Catholics have abortions, that is entirely up to them.  I do object to laws
that would prevent anyone, including Catholics, from having one.

Every one has the right to practice their religion in this country... they just don't have the right to
inflict that religion on others.

FREEDOM of RELIGION, and FREEDOM FROM RELIGION should give All Americans religious liberty with out passing
laws that impose religious restrictions on the masses.

The choice of every American to decide for himself what religion to follow, or no religion if he chooses...
the opposite of your "Control of the Masses".

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Live your life the way you wish as long as it doesn't infringe on others rights, that should apply for religion and politics, however politics do infringe on others with or without religion being the cause. The concept of a free society and so easy to follow, it just that there is those who want power over others, human nature I guess

Scientists Create Synthetic Organism.

By ROBERT LEE HOTZ
Heralding a potential new era in biology, scientists for the first time have created a synthetic cell, completely controlled by man-made genetic instructions, researchers at the private J. Craig Venter Institute announced Thursday.

."We call it the first synthetic cell," said genomics pioneer Craig Venter, who oversaw the project. "These are very much real cells."

Created at a cost of $40 million, this experimental one-cell organism, which can reproduce, opens the way to the manipulation of life on a previously unattainable scale, several researchers and ethics experts said. Scientists have been altering DNA piecemeal for a generation, producing a menagerie of genetically engineered plants and animals. But the ability to craft an entire organism offers a new power over life, they said.

There you go...Creation of an organism without religious overtones.

Have a nice day

We have eyewitness accounts and scientific evidence about this, folks, and it's all in the Bible."

I have no problem with Christians... I have a problem when Christians attempt to pass laws that inflict their
religion on the rest of us.

Christians can believe in Noah's arc, or that the earth is 6,000-10,000 years old... I don't much care what
they believe... that is up to them.

When they attempt to force their religion on the rest of us... then obviously, I and the US constitution object.

BTW, I would guess that most Christians believe in evolution and that they use the Bible as a RELIGIOUS guide,
not as a SCIENCE book.

Yep, all makes perfect sense now.

Once again you go out of your way to try to get even with me for some reason.

Why the hostility?

You keep on failing to comprehend the intent of my posts regarding handouts to special interest groups.

What part of equal treatment under the law don't you like?

Taking from all and handing it out to law enforcement, veterans, the arts and humanities, mortgage brokers, corporations, libraries, mentally ill research, affirmative action, whatever.

It's all welfare.

It's the federal version of the Metroplex authority.

It's interference in free trade, favoritism and government handouts, all creating more new government jobs and new ways to control the actions of everyone.

You didn't seem like a nanny state kind of person to me.

Creating a hundred thousand more people each year dependent on government handouts is not a solution, it is the problem.

The federal government is Schenectady on steroids.

You can't spend your problems away.

You can't fix cities by shifting the tax burden unfairly to the little guys.

It doesn't matter if it's Rotterdam or Washington DC, the same problems exist.

There is too much spending and every genius like you wants to defend his own special interest handouts.

Stop the handouts.

That's how you curb excessive spending and deficits.

Corporations have no business ever being tax exempt even for one day.

Both the local budgets and the federal budgets would be balanced if corporate welfare was not crippling them.

Asking for everyone to be treated equally is not the outrageous behavior that you should be protesting.

I think your desire to find ways to attack me is clouding your judgment.

I don't see why you keep finding new ways to object to me wanting government out of our lives.
