YES!    Bombers IS tax exempt!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW!    Go "get" the properties off State St proper.   Villa Italia is tax exempt.   Marcella's appliances.     Villa Itallia moves WITHIN Schdy Co and merely moves it's EXISTING employees to the downtown location and in doing so becomes tax exempt.   Marcella's moves a few blocks and moves it's EXISTING employees to the new location and in doing so becomes tax exempt.    Check other properties downtown.

While tax exempt, I'd leave off churches and an organization like girl scouts.   They provide charitable services to the poor.   Have yet to see fat Morris and his tens of millions of taxpayer dollars put on a free Thanksgiving dinner on Proctor's property hosted by his lavish catering hall which could have pumpkin and apple pies donated by the tax exempt Villa Italia, beverage perhaps by the tax exempt restaurants, dinner cooked on appliances from Marcellas, etc.   And the owners of these tax exempt businesses should be required to work at the dinner - like the volunteers who do that dinner in Albany.   These tax exempt businesses downtown don't do diddly squat for the poor.

Lastly, take this all to Greg Floyd at Ch 6.   And make sure that while the city will say "oh, but they pay a pilot.   I'll tell you, what meager pilot they pay doesn't come anywhere remotely close to what they would pay if they paid full taxes.   And we must remember too, that they did not have to pay for the full cost of their properties either.   I mean, did you hear McC last night.   He was responding to I think it was Vince Riggi who was concerned about the over zealous code enforcement going after financially struggling homeowners who were cited for minor peeling paint.   McC said during the meeting that the city "will work with the owners."   Such TOTAL BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!    What, they'll give them 60days instead of 30 days to correct the violations?    McC has absolutely no problem whatsoever with handing out taxpayer money to fund the repairs, renovations, rebuilding of places for downtown owned millionaires and billionaires for whom the cost of paying in the entirety themselves would still be a drop in the bucket.    But financially struggling homeowners, incomes typically $30,000, McC and his dems can come roaring in on them, charge them $6,000 a year in taxes, cause their home values to plummet making them unable to sell their homes, and then have the nerve to order them to spend $5,000 or so to paint their homes!!!!!!!    But to he wealthy and/or pollitically connected buddies, fine, steal from the financially struggling homeowners.   Raise the taxes on the homeowners to pay for the building, rebuilding, repair, renovations of properties owned by millionaires.  UnF****G  believable!!!!!!!!!!

The saddest thing is that the homeowners do not even know that they are paying the property taxes for the downtown properties.   Just go up to ANYONE and after you tell them that Paul Mitchell is a Forbes BILLIONAIRE and he has a hair salon downtown and ask the person if they know that they are paying Paul Mitchell's property & school tax bills via their own tax bill.   Ditto the Hiltons (Hampton Inn).  And make sure you ask people if they know that Philip Morris refuses to pay taxes on his theater AND that he ILLEGALLY is taking two STAR exemptions.   Sadly, the answer is that most people don't even know because the city DEMS keep it all hush hush, the big dem secret.   But then, many are renters and don't even grasp the concept that their rent goes to pay the landlord's property taxes.  When residents who rent can't connect the two, they aren't going to care.   Homeowners who do, well, they feel they are fighting a losing battle and have put their homes up for sale, and sad for them, but the truth, the FACT is (contrary to what DV wants you to think), the FACT is virtually NO ONE wants to buy a house in the city!!!!!

Yes, thanks L4L.   We have done some of that research myself and posted it here, but we don't have the time to find everything

heard the other day from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone on the schenctady ida....that all of the businesses mentioned are NOT tax exempt. including villa! something about a 'tax break' incentive for the first few years or so...then full taxes. Everything we find states that they are tax exempt.

Now either they ARE NOT tax exempt.....or the city doesn't keep/post/update their records!

The Schenectady tax rolls are wrong?

Is that what you are suggesting?

These same businesses listed as currently being tax exempt also get low or no interest loans totaling over 28 million.

These same businesses received 28 million in grants over the past 2 years as well.

Or are the Metroplex annual reports and the IDA reports faked as well as the tax rolls?

I don't believe any of the reports are wrong or the tax roll published to the web.

The Metroplex has the authority to initiate and extend tax exemptions for as long as they want, and to whoever they want.

Of course, that is the idea, give them a break to get them here and someday they will pay taxes.

Villa Italia received grant money as well as interest free loans, on top of their indeterminate number of year tax exemption.

They start paying taxes when the Metroplex decides they need to.

With Metroplex getting a 50% budget increase, none of these businesses will need to pay taxes for a long time.

Agree, there are some businesses which do have an 'ending' date for their tax breaks. Clinton's Ditch ended theirs recently yet the Plex decided to 'forgive' their $35,000 loan. Guess when one break ends another begins.

As well, there was that Cardiomag which received mega-metroplex-money plus a tax-free ride and when their Schenectady taxes began to come due, they left for Albany County.

Let's face it, you cannot bribe a business to come into a financially unsound City with an unbalanced playing field. They don't care about Renaissances, they care about profit. Schenectady County is clueless on economics 101 and the loss of $100 million with a $5 million City deficit is telling enough.

Bow Tie Got $7.4 million interest free loans. they must pay back $1 million over the next 20 years, then a balloon payment will become due.

They will vanish when that day arrives.

AMEN!    And of course, the cuckoo big bird McC/plex cheerleader--DV-- will NOT respond about these FACTS supported with the EVIDENCE.    He'll just say we "lie and distort" yet he will NOT provide evidence for things he posts here which just goes to prove that he is the one who "lies and distorts."
