Good news: Cermak is back
May 25, 2012 at 2:29 pm by Mike Spain

A familiar voice returns to the Times Union Tuesday. Longtime reporter and columnist Marv Cermak resumes his column after a 12-month hiatus while recovering from a spinal injury.

On Memorial Day 2011, Marv had an accidental fall at his Schenectady home, which landed him at Albany Medical Center Hospital for three months. His rehab continued at a facility near home. In November, just as he was about to be released from rehab, his wife, Patty, had a sudden illness that required emergency surgery. Now they’re both home recovering and adjusting to the new normal. A few months ago, Marv quietly marked his 80th birthday.

When he was hospitalized last year and had to halt his column, Marv told me he had not missed a single weekly communique since retiring as a full-time reporter in 2002. He started his column 50 years ago, when he was a sports writer for the Schenectady Gazette. At left is the logo from his column from his many years writing for the Knickerbocker News.............

democraps and other similar liars and storyteller beware

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

And here is  Marv

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

Humpty Dumpty took a great fall.

All the king's horses and all the king's men

Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty

back together again.

I was reminded of that nursery rhyme after falling asleep on a kitchen stool and crashing on the floor while watching TV. I only fell about three feet — and broke my neck. I couldn't help think how countless parachutists, drop thousands of feet, land on their heads and walk away unhurt.
