Don't you think that down the road it would save both the town and citizens money if they raised the water bill vs. something outlandish like a reval?  I read these bogus news stories...how much was lost on the middleman?  Rotterdam has a resource that is way under priced.  Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Yeah, it hypothetically would, but the additional revenue would only go to more lob jobs!  That's the crux of the problem, the taxpayers NEVER see relief!   NEVER

AND it would pad the pensions of particular politically driven sections of our town workforce. It would be a windfall that would be immediately squandered and raped from the water districts as we just saw last fall.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Meters are the way to go. No flat fees. That's unfair to less occupied homes and/or those that try to conserve water. Paying for how much you use is fair way to go. It would end the idiots washing their driveways with the hose instead of sweeping the leaves/propellers from trees that end up in the driveway. We have a Dutch heritage, but honestly, wasting water like that is just being dumb.

And who's gonna pay for the meters?

That'd be just about the straw that breaks the camels back.

Oh yes....let's not use water to keep up properties like washing down driveways! But it's ok to have a chemical plant that threatens the aquifer. And it's ok to place a mall and apt complexes over the aquifer. And it's ok to run miles of petroleum based streets over the aquifer with cars that leak oil and gasoline. Not to mention the salting of the roads in the winter!!!

It would just be a 'money grab' and a way of controlling, adding fees and fines that NEVER benefit the taxpayers. Just look at the city of schenectady!!

roads and chemical plant are right up the democrat, republican and conservative parties alley's  right up there with Hydro-fracking - common cents goes out the window when there is a dollar to be made

Water should not be squandered

wait, yes it should, because when it is gone there will be more money to be made

not with water.....I get that we live in NYS....but 'Gerber' anyone? or how about the water for chip factory? or how about the water that is diverted from
farmers to Las Vegas for F'EN gambling.....really?

what's the value of clean water?

1. cost of pump stations
2. cost of treatment
3. cost to deliver treatment
4. cost of union workers to deliver/watch above

5. cost of GE and SI sitting on the water supply, not to mention the rest of our poor  planning......

If your so worried about people in the town wasting water have the police start enforcing the water regulations that will save water and even make the town some money in fines.

Unfortunately that won't work....most of the law enforcement employees live in the neighborhoods that violate the watering restrictions!

Indeed -- it may WELL be time to increase certain user fees in order to replenish the reserves in some of the districts which, in the future will need to attract and hire talented individuals to operate the very advanced and complex water and sewer systems that the Town will inevitably be aspiring to. Various Federal and State mandates make it such that the Town will in the near future -- need to upgrade many of its antiquated systems which the previous two administrations FAILED to protect and maintain.

Sadly the previous Supervisor and his cronies were incompetent and let some of the systems fall into grave disrepair..  We have better people looking to take over in that area and residents should see the fruits of Supervisor Buffardi's excellent vision and skill in resolving these matters. Although I  am NOT for raising fees for the sake of raising fees -- However, personnel and training needs in the various departments (including the wonderful Police Department) and the increased need for Public Safety personnel and First Responders may make it all but inevitable that we find new revenue streams WITHOUT having to raise taxes.

Once again, the words of a roughly 50 year old "man-child,"   unable to live like a normal adult man is supposed to, a "mamas" boy who fails to live independently of any mama figure, does not own a home, does not have an apartment separate from the mama figures.   A 50 yr old man who cannlt support himself and live like a NORMAL 50 year old man should live.   Oh yeah, that's right, he's not NORMAL

YOU have proved ONCE AGAIN that you are not now nor have EVER been a homeowner taxpayer.     Keeps posting, but since he has never been a self supporting adult living like an adult male is supposed to, we all know that he knows nothing about what he writes.

Taxes and fees are the same.   They may be calculated differently, but in the end they are still a HEAVY BURDEN ON FINANCIALLY STRUGGLING HOMEOWNERS.

It's time to wake up and force the exempt millionaires to pay their tax bills and to CUT SPENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.

speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I guess the question needs to be asked here..........exactly when is it that Schenectady's water supply is expected to be depleted? No, seriously........there is a fairly new car wash in rotterdam on burdeck that OBVIOUSLY uses WATER....yes?? Couple that with the newly approved apartments that are going to be developed at the rotterdam 'triangle'....yes?? MFHousing has been developed in leaps and bounds in rotterdam.......yes? Rotterdam is looking to have apts in the old draper school....yes?? And how 'bout the old grand union that they are trying to develop into 'something'.....yes?? Just when is all of the water going to be gone????

And some folks are worried about a home owner washing down their driveway?? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!!
