They will not be collecting on these taxes.  Looks like whole streets are on this list.  Mumford, Moynston, Craig....

The city will be doing them a favor by taking them over.  Most of these owners will strip any and all valuables out of these homes right before they fill the basement up with water.

The costs of winterizing, boarding and evicting tenants will cripple the city even further.

$119,000 ?????    YIKES !!!!!!!!!

Asking THAT MUCH??????     And after paying that much the buyer has to soak tens of thousands of dollars into it in order to bring it into the 21st century?

The ad says "well cared for" !!!!!!!     Oh come on!      Alright, it probably has repairs made when needed.

But obviously the dems in the city made the financially struggling homeowners pay so much in taxes that the homeowner couldn't even pay to remove that UGH wallpaper in the kitchen?

I mean, really, imagine McC's "key to the city" program.   But the house for this $119K, but get the mortgage for $50K more because ANY buyer would DESPARATELY NEED to:

Gut the WHOLE kitchen, it needs new floor, new appliances, get rid of the wall paper and not sure about that partial opening in between.

Gut TWO WHOLE bathrooms.   I mean did you see the bathroom with the panelling??????????????   UGH!!!!!!!!    And in the other bathroom the plastic tiles on the wall, and WHERE did they get that chrome edging on that yellow counter?    And the floor covering, actually that linoleum doesn't look like it's worn, but maybe looks like it was put down in the 50's and no one ever entered that bathroom!!!!!!

Check out what might be a den or family room.   Again, 40 yrs and the room has not been touched.

The basement!   Again, panelling and that drop ceiling.

Once can only imagine what might be behind the panelling.  And depending on how the panelling was put up, gosh, they could end up pulling plaster of when removing panelling, which then requires even more work.

Then the back.   That awning over the door is very old, poor condition, not taken care of.

And look by the basement windows, not good either.

Only thing that seems ok is that upstairs bedroom

Looks like a cute house and the floor plan you generally have to live with, but that's an unbelievable huge expense

OH MY GOSH!!!

I just went and looked this up.    The city claims it's worth, get this, $162,900!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And when I saw the owner's name, I realized who it was.

The son of the owner is regularly on Paul V's radio show.   The two were dialoging one day, within the past couple weeks, and he (the son of the owner) said that the taxes are very high in Schenectady and referenced his mother's house in the Upper Union St area and I think said it was over $7,000 !!!!!!!!

This is the same in every block in the City. Assessments are a total joke and the DEM implosion team refuses to reduce assessments or God forbid cut any spending. Next more City vehicles and revisit the Muni Golf course "improvements". These DEM morons are in a hole, in denial and continue digging. The State oversight board must come in and take control from these failures that couldn't run a lemonade stand. Got $5 million?

It's SO VERY BAD in Schenectady that DV is not buying house.

In fact, it's so bad that neither DV nor any of his imaginary friends post comments on most of the threads having to do with the city.

DV (and his other names) can't contradict the truth

If this was in Schenectady, the taxes would be about $10,000 a year

LESS THAN $4,000 in Troy for 3,600 sq ft.   WOW

Can you believe this!

That financial expert on Paul's show on the radio, the one mentioned in this thread, trying to sell his mother's house.

Assessed for $162,900.  Started out trying to sell at $119,000, NO ONE WILLING TO PAY $119k, i.le., NO WILLING BUYERS

He dropped the house price to $114K

The house is VERY DATED.   I mean, look at the 40 year old kitchen.   And wallpaper on the walls!   EW.   Try to get that all off, mostly impoissible.  Green carpeting?   (I don't mean environmentallly green).  NO ONE has green color carpeting in this centruy!  Carpeting is obviously 40 years old if not more and that is EWWWW when you're buying a house.   In fact ANY INTELLIGENT real estate expert will say that carpeting is out and hardwood is the thing.

The guy was on the show this morning.   He is no meager little layperson.   He is an expert.   He said on the radio that he grieved. and we all know the answer.   DENIED BASED ON INSUFFICIENT DATA!   I.e., the assesment board members are saying the house IS worth $162,900, the board is saying there ARE people willing to pay $162,900.

The ad for the house actually says they are grieving the assessment and also that the seller will provide $3,000 to offset the taxes---THAT PROVES HOW EXTREMELY DESPARATE people are to flee the city.  Maybe the cheerleaders for downtown can provide evidence to proof otherwise?
