Under the right management, Arthur's Market could be a thriving business again.

So, your opinion is that the Wachala's didn't manage it correctly?  Personal money used, equity invested, along with their blood, sweat and tears?

Gotcha.

The key factors in this failure are clearly stated in the article --
a)  store hours were not consistent or predictable
b) serving Yemeni food for lunch .. not too big a market for that cuisine .. even in cities much larger than Schenectady

Hopefully the next owners will have a better business plan and will devote the hours to actually running the business.

DV gets his jollies telling LIES.   Lie after lie after lie after lie

He REFUSES to address the TRUTH.

He REFUSES to provide one teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE of anything he says

He REFUSES to even remotely address the HUGE deficit that the city is now in thanks to the wild spending of the city leaders.

He wouldn't come near the city -- for buying a residence OR even for renting -- he wouldn't come near it with a ten foot pole!

He just get's his jollies trying to make up stories, which are LIES, in the hopes of getting some dem to give him a 6 figure cushy job

Apparently Wachala's opinion is that Yemen is preferable to Schenectady.

I REPEAT --

This business went OUT of business due solely to the owner and his poor business plan... His own failure that he must be keenly regretting indeed - is the only downfall of that operation. As stated, Yemeni food does NOT have a following in this region. If he had done his market research or bothered to consult the experts at the County Planning Department -- who incidentally are EXPERTS at marketing and business plans -- he may WELL have succeeded. I myself have a great deal of experience in retail and business yet I would NOT be above getting input from the wonderful people at the Metroplex or the Planning Department.

Furthermore his abject FAILURE to conduct his business as a responsible operator in regards to his inconsistent schedule meant that MANY customers found he was not at all OPEN when he SHOULD have been.

Any other commentary that the Nayboobs engage in is pure fiction and whimsey. I will NOT respond to the imbeciles any further. Perhaps the next owners will have a better business plan and will be devoted to their pursuit in such as way as to actually spend time running the store.

I don't think there is a need for direct public money or tax-exemptions to make Arthur's Market a thriving business.  Some off street parking would be helpful - but even that doesn't need public money to accomplish although it shouldn't be turned down if offered,

The 2 most important factors to be addressed as stated previously --- having a good business plan which includes doing the market research to determine what products and services will sell in that neighborhood; and keeping consistent hours that are convenient to neighborhood residents and other potential customers.

You're an idiot, plain and simple.  They DID have off street parking to the rear of the building.  Obviously, you've never been there, yet choose to inject your OPINION.

How about another Dress For Success Charity Shoppe? lol So DEM appointee Marion Poterfield can drive another nonprofit into the dirt. Nothing will "thrive" in Stockade or anywhere else in the impoded City until the State takes over fiscal control from McCarthy and his 6 DEM morons. They all knew and refused to say anything until they were unmasked by the Times Union, CBS-6 and Talk 1300. They couldn't run a lemonade stand.
