Thank goodness this bear was spared.....stand down if the bear made a move......the net didn't do a thing for the safety of the bear...

somewhat like what the politicians are doing .....fall on your head.....and be dragged out....

Goes to show you just how much this government has empathy for our animals....so, none for us humans/taxpayers....

everything is expendible. .......excitement was far better than watching an election ....who won....   THE BEAR.........

I'm reasonably certain that the purpose of the net wasn't to break the animals fall, but rather to transport it once the it hit the ground...................just as a side note I would hope we have as much compassion for our fellow man and domestic pets as we do towards a wild animal...........just sayin'......

SCHENECTADY — The wayward wild black bear that wandered into the Stockade Thursday evening before being tranquilized and plummeting from a backyard tree, was released unharmed in Delaware County Friday morning, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Conservation said.
DEC biologists released the 200-pound, 3-year-old ursine intruder in the Catskills town of Andes on the grounds of the Pepacton Reservoir, agency spokeswoman Lisa King said.
A brief video clip provided by the agency shows the animal emerging from a cage and bounding into a nearby forest.
The bear spent about two hours in a tree behind a North Front Street home before being shot with three tranquilizer darts and taking a groggy tumble about 50 feet to the ground below.
It was the second bear visit to the region in recent weeks. A 175-pound male bear, which recently wandered into a neighborhood in Albany's South End, also was tranquilized and later released in the Catskills.
The Pepacton Reservoir, which is 15 miles long and owned by New York City, is about 100 miles southwest of Albany along the east branch of the Delaware River.

BEAR ROAST

Read more about it at http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1652,159181-228205,00.html

4 lbs. bear meat
2 cloves garlic
1/2 chunk of salt pork
1 c. black coffee

Rub meat with plenty of salt (celery salt is preferable) and black pepper. Place in kettle with plenty of water and salt pork, garlic and black coffee. Boil until tender. Remove to roaster, add more salt and pepper and cover with plenty of sliced onions.
Roast in 350 degree oven until brown. Use liquid boiled in for basting and making gravy. For those who do not desired the "wild taste" in bear meat, boil for about 10 minutes in soda water - 1 tablespoon soda to 2 quarts of water - drain and the meat is ready for cooking or preserving.

I ate bear a couple months back ... if you're not used to it, you will NOT like it.  Tastes nothing like chicken, steak, elk, buffalo ... it has a VERY strong flavor and taste.

I saw a skinned bear hanging in a meat cooler once...    It looked sort of like a decapitated human but kind of
blueish.
I've heard the younger the animal the better the taste but even the young have a strong flavor.

Senders, every time that I think that you've sunk to your lowest point, you always manage to find a way
to descend.

Sad.

They prefer goats.

really? are kidding? you of all people.....think that's low? truth is truth....whether or not it's about the taste or the equation of fetus' non-viable
human beings vs an animal that is below us in the food chain, only because of our somewhat intellect to kill it if need be for food/clothing
or safety....

I'm not understanding you....
