Adirondack Trailways station to get a facelift
Metroplex authority, bus company will provide money for overhaul

SCHENECTADY — The Adirondack Trailways station on lower State Street will undergo a significant upgrade as part of a private and public plan approved Wednesday by the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority.

Metroplex board members approved a $50,000 grant that the bus company will match to rebuild the station's outdated facade and make improvements to its parking lot, ticket area, landscape and signage, authority Chairman Ray Gillen said. The project boosts efforts to redevelop the area of the city near Schenectady County Community College, he said.

"It's one of first buildings you see as you come in from Glenville and 890," Gillen said.

Adirondack Trailways hired city-based architect firm Stracher, Roth and Gilmore to design the project this year with work to start in late 2012.

"Adirondack Trailways is proud to be partnering with the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority to enhance and improve our facility at 22 State St.," said Anne Noonan, the company's vice president for marketing and traffic. "Trailways has served Schenectady for many decades and as good community citizens, we are pleased to have this opportunity to improve our property in a way that will benefit both Schenectady and Trailways."

The bus station is located near a new 100,000-square-foot SCCC student housing complex, improvements to Erie Boulevard and other new construction, area officials said.

"It is very important that the bus station be fixed as part of our revitalization efforts on lower State Street," said Marty Finn, chairman of the county Legislature's Committee on Economic Development....................>>>>.......................>>>>................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/busi.....26.php#ixzz1uSmlxifH

And just watch DV saying "wonderful news" and "the renaissance continues."

Just watch!

Of course it is OUR money, NOT DV's money because he does NOT pay taxes!

Let's see if DV will respond and state what the financially struggling homeowners in the city are supposed to do?   They can't afford to fix up their homes, they get cited with code violations, what is Metroplex doing to help the homeonwers who are footing the bill for fixing the bus station but can't afford to fix their own homes?

Mettoplex should include drug sniffing dogs for free.  OH wait, that would hurt ticket sales!

The taxpayers have to pay for 'private businesses property improvements'?
It appears that private businesses aren't doing so well in schenectady, since they can't afford to keep up their property/buildings and must rely on taxpayer's money.

And yet the taxpayers have to pay for 'their own'  property improvements AND for the improvements of private businesses!

Wonder how much the ceo of Adirondack trailways makes????

Very good questions.   Perhaps the cheerleader DV can answer those questions, after all, he claims all this spending of taxpayer money is so wonderful.

Yes, DV, answer us.   Tell us.   Since homeowners are expected to keep their own properties in good condition at their own expense, tell us why private business should not be expected to do the same?    Perhaps you can tell us how the mandated taxpayer-funded repairs/renos of properties owned by private business - tell us how that has helped the TAXABLE tax base in the city?    Tell us how it has helped the property values of the HOMEOWNERS.   Tell us what effect it has had on the tax BILLS of the homeowners?????

Can you answer those questions, DV?????    Or are you going to avoid responding because you are just far to embarrassed to admit that all this wild spending by the dems has hurt the city greatly????

Well?

My only problem with the proposal is that it is not part of a new Multi-Modal Station  (train, bus, etc) -- but sometimes you have to do what is possible now .. and keep working for the bigger goal further down the road. So once again, I have to say --- JOB WELL DONE.

Come on DV, the city is going after homeowners, ordering them to do repairs, renovations.

DV, can you tell us how the homeowners are supposed to pay for the government-ordered repairs to their own homes when homeowners have no money to repair their houses because they have to pay for repairing/renovating the bus station?

Of course, since you are NOT a taxpayer, nor have you ever been one, you have no idea how homeowners struggle.

That western end of State Street is beginning to experience "midas touch" of the Renaissance Master Ray Gillen.   I am looking forward to additional positive economic development news for that area in the weeks and months ahead.

Hey DV, tell us how all these projects downtown are helping the city.    Can you EVER answer that question?????

All the spending of the tax dollars:

1.   What effect has it had on the TAXABLE tax base in the city?
2.   What effect has it had on the tax BILLS of the homeowners in the city?
3.   What effect has it had on the property values in the city?
4.   What effect has it had on the desirability of buying a home IN the city?
5.   What effect has it had on the city's budget and financial situation?

Of course we know you will not answer because it's much too embarrassing to admit the TRUTH---the taxable tax base is down, the tax BILLS are increasing big time, the property values are plummeting, the desirability of buying a house IN the city is virtually non-existant, and the city's budget and finances in the sewer.

Or can you provide EVIDENCE to the contrary??????

Are you looking forward to more reduction in the TAXABLE tax base?

Are you looking forward to the city taxes being not "almost the highest" in the whole country, but to being actually the highest in the whole country?

Are you looking forward to everyone moving out of the city?

Are you looking forward to the city going bankrupt?
