From the you can't make it up file-facing a $6 MILLION deficit the City DEM morons have an agenda item next week to purchase three more City vehicles! They refuse to layoff, they refuse to stop flushing taxpayer money on road narrowing/nonprofits and continue to dig a deeper hole. Talk about clueless. Instead of ending the City vehicle free friends and family club they actually want to expand it. The State must come in and take over the City finances from Gary McCarthy and his clueless DEM rubber stamps. They refuse to face the new realities.

Just wondering, are there certain Rotterdam PD who are allowed to take home vehicles also?  I was over in Guilderland when I saw one.  Can't remember if it was this morning or yesterday morning.

Instead of cutting the City vehicle program these DEM morons want to increase it. Guilderland is one thing but taking a City vehicle home to Lake Luzerne something else. How much longer are Denise Brucker and McCarthy going to pretend this is not a problem? In all the press reports of the McCarthy financial scandal no mention of Son of Sam or the Death Ray Downtown tax giveaways. If Fat Morris made his fair share PILOT other free loaders Downtown would follow suit.

Whether they can afford it or not? It's morons like Hamburger, Paulino. McCarthy/Stratton that have destroyed the City. Roger Hull was right. MC1 was right. Alias was right. You can't spend 10 MILLION more than you take in. The State Comptroller must come in and clean up the mess these DEM morons have made of the City AND County. At the County level "leaders" like A-Jello and Judy DAG still want to build a County home at any price. So what is every neighboring County is out of the public nursing home business. Pile drive County residents into the dirt destroying property resale values with confiscatory DEM taxation. Keep the DEM implosion going!

Explain why they NEED vehicles to take PLEASURE DRIVES far outside the city??????    Can you explain that??????

Do you believe they should be allowed to live FAR OUTSIDE the city thus CAUSING such expense to the financially struggling homeowners IN the city?

How about the homeowners IN the city who cannot afford a car?  You mean homeowners who go to work should be without a car in order to provide HIGH PAID city employees with cars to take PLEASURE DRIVES FAR FAR FAR OUTSIDE of the city?

Should the homeowners IN the city, whose property values are plummeting and the taxes skyrocketing, should the homeowners lose their homes in order for the city employees to take DAILY PLEASURE DRIVES far outside the city?

Tell us, Ham, why should homeowners/taxpayers IN the city whose typical total household income is about $30,000 a year, tell us WHY they should pay for cars for city employees who make over $100,000 a year who take DAILY PLEASURE DRIVES FAR FAR FAR outside the city?

Tell us WHY city employees should be allowed to take DAILY PLEASURE DRIVES at taxpayer expense?????

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

On TV-18 these DEM morons are talking about stopping door to door solicitations and buying solar panels for City buildings! It's an alternate universe. Not a peep about cutting ANYTHING. Not a peep about McCarthy's $5 MILLION deficit. Watch these DEM nitwits borrow even more for solar panels that don't work. Because its green jobs and they only have good intentions.

It was another City DEM classic! They also want to require dog owners to get liability insurance. Rotsa Ruck with enforcement. Maybe McCarthy can hire more Lumpy's to go door to door checking for uninsured pit bulls- lol. It's the record taxes-stupid. Did you hear the one about the new City engineer?

SCHENECTADY
Olsen draws fire at council’s meeting
Trucks, repairs to pump station spark debate
BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

If there’s a financial crisis in Schenectady, it didn’t look like it at Monday’s City Council meeting.
Only Councilman Carl Erikson, the finance committee chairman, appeared to be looking for ways to cut costs after city offi cials warned Schenectady will likely end the year in a defi cit.
The most the council did was to put off the purchase of some trucks — but that’s only until they can find out why many dealers didn’t bid.
Erikson argued with Commissioner of General Services Carl Olsen, who wanted to buy expensive trucks despite the lack of competitive bids. Olsen insisted a truck that’s often in the shop must be replaced right away, and that others need attention too, while Erikson said he wouldn’t vote for it unless at least three dealers offered a bid for the new trucks.
“I think the specifi cations were written to a specifi c brand,” Erikson said. “The guy knows he doesn’t have to bid the most competitive price; he’s got it in the bag.”
Olsen insisted that wasn’t true, but Erikson said he wouldn’t believe it unless Ford and GM dealers called City Hall to say that they don’t want to sell the city trucks. An International dealer was the only one to offer a bid.
Competitive bids might save the city $10,000 per truck, Erikson said.
Olsen agreed to call other dealers and ask them why they hadn’t bid on the trucks. The purchases were set aside for now.
Then Erikson and Olsen argued over the repair of a pump station, where old PCB-laden electrical transformers must be replaced if the station is to function. But it’s only been used twice in seven years, to prevent flooding near SCCC, and Erikson suggested the city would be better off not spending $365,000 on the project.
    Olsen disagreed again.
“I think the damage from one event would easily exceed that cost,” he said.
He added that the price is “extremely good,” but that didn’t win him any allies.
Councilman Vince Riggi said, “No price is an ‘extremely good’ price now. We’ve been operating without this for a year.”
Council President Denise Brucker came to Olsen’s rescue, saying that the station might become more important now that dormitories are being built near the college. That could spur other development there too, she said, and it must be protected from fl oods.
Erikson agreed to pass the item out of committee for a vote at next week’s council meeting. ........................>>>>...................>>>>........................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00902&AppName=1
